Al Jazeera Documentary Channel (Arabic: الجزيرة الوثائقية) is a pan-Arab Arabic film and documentary channel and a branch of the Al Jazeera Media Network based in Doha, Qatar.
It was launched on January 1, 2007 at 12:00 PM GMT. It is designed to provide viewers with an immense amount of high quality documentaries. These films cover and analyze a wide variety of topics including historical, scientific, political, artistic, and travel topics.
The broadcaster produces 15% of the broadcast material in-house, while the rest is sourced from Arab and global producers. It also produces documentaries for Al Jazeera Arabic and assists in the production of documentaries for other Al Jazeera channels such as Al Jazeera English. The channel is located in a separate building on the Al Jazeera Media Network campus in Doha, Qatar.
The canal was the first of its kind in the Arabic-speaking world. As an Arabic language documentary by Al Jazeera, they primarily pay attention to Arab viewers wherever they are and endeavor through the production of documentaries and various recreational activities that are closely related to the viewer's human values and cultural respect and adhere to the charter of the press. The channel is designed to focus on four areas: computer science, awareness, technology and interest.
