CGTN in Spanish (China Global Television Network in Spanish, in simplified Chinese, 中国 环球 电视网 西班牙语 频道; pinyin, Zhōngguó huánqiú diànshì wǎng xībānyá yǔ pndào), formerly known as CCTV-Spanish (in simplified Chinese, 中国 中央 电视台 西班牙语国际 频道; pinyin, Zhōngguó Zhōngyāng Diànshìtái Xībānyá yǔ Guójì Píndào) is a Chinese subscription television channel operated by China Central Television that broadcasts its programming entirely in Spanish from Beijing, focusing on entertainment, informational and educational programs from its Released October 1, 2007.1
On March 7, 2015, it began to broadcast on TDT Venezuela and since the end of June 2017 it was seen on mux 39 of DTT in Madrid, Spain, but currently it broadcasts on mux 48 in Madrid, Spain. In 2021 it will arrive in Argentina through Open Digital Television.
Initially the channel was launched as CCTV-E & F on January 1, 2004 with blocks in Spanish and French, later on October 1, 2007, the signal was relaunched, separating the programs into two different channels, one in Spanish and the other in French. , changing its image and programming completely to Spanish.2
On January 1, 2011, CCTV adjusted the official logo, changing from CCTV-E to CCTV-Spanish. On April 11, 2014 the channel changed its aspect ratio from 4: 3 to 16: 9.3
Its programming includes news, sports, business and also curiosities about China and other parts of Asia, as well as Chinese soap operas and travel documentaries in the interior of that country, along with cultural and artistic tours. The channel also shows Chinese language learning contests. In 2016, they began their live broadcasts on YouTube through the official CCTV channel on that platform.
On December 31, 2016, Central China Television rebranded all of its channels to CGTN, short for China Global Television Network, as part of a strategy to consolidate its global reach. That day, their website was changed to the internet domain cgtn.com4 5 although the previous page, at the time of writing this section, is still active.
