Australia - Fox Sports Live - Australia

Fox Sports is an Australian sports channels group owned by Fox Sports Pty Limited [3]. Its main competitors are ESPN and beIN Sports, which are offered as part of a Foxtel or Kayo Sports subscription.

Fox Sports in Australia differs from other Fox Sports-branded channels in the United States and elsewhere in the world, from channels owned by Foxtel and not Fox Corporation and The Walt Disney Company, respectively. As Foxtel owns the majority of Murdoch-controlled News Corp Australia, both US and Australian companies are still under the control of the Murdoch family.

Fox Sports started life as Premier Sports Network (later simply 'Premier Sports') as the only local channel fully functional at the launch of Australia's first pay television service Galaxy. Premier Sports's supporters included American company Prime International, which later became part of Liberty Media.

Launched at 16:00 in Sydney on January 26, 1995, the service made a name for itself by securing the rights to Australia's West Indies cricket tour. Previously, Australian cricket tours were broadcast free of charge on the Nine Network, and Nine tried to stop the broadcast under 'anti-siphoning' rules, which states that some of Australia's popular sporting events cannot only be shown on paid television. PSN signed an agreement with Network Ten to share the broadcasting rights.

When Foxtel launched its cable service the same year, PSN was included in the package. Between 1995 and 2010, Fox Sports broadcast the National Basketball League (NBL) games. On March 1, 1996, PSN was relaunched as Fox Sports Australia, to coincide with the new Super 12 rugby union competition and the proposed launch of the Super League.
