SuperSport is a pan-African group of television channels based in South Africa that is broadcast on the DStv and Canal+ satellite platforms, as well as the GOtv terrestrial platform. It provides sports content in South Africa, Nigeria, and many other African countries.
Previously, SuperSport also had operations in Europe in the Scandinavian, Benelux, Italian, Eastern European, Greek and Cypriot regions and FilmNet started sports channels, being owned by MultiChoice at the time, which has since been superseded. They also had operations in Thailand, under the current name True Sport & Egypt, and the Middle East through Cable Network of Egypt (CNE) and Arab Radio and Television Network, respectively.
The channel broadcasts most major sporting events and leagues in football, rugby, cricket, tennis, golf, motor sports, cycling, boxing, wrestling, hockey and athletics. It was previously the world's largest broadcaster of live rugby and cricket (having been overtaken by Sky Sports), and also the second largest broadcaster of the world's Premier League, broadcasting matches live. and, where possible, in HD via the Premier League's Mr. Content Service.
In addition to its satellite channels, SuperSport also broadcasts content to M-Net, CSN and occasionally M-Net HD. From September 2020, in the same way that Sky Sports has done, SuperSport started running themed channels with most major sports getting their own channels.
