Syria TV (Arabic: القناة الفضائية السورية), also known as Syrian Satellite Channel, is a national public broadcast satellite television channel, funded by the state by RTV Syria (ORTAS) and broadcast worldwide on various satellites. The television station has been based in Damascus, Syria since July 1960.
On September 5, 2012, the transmission of Syrian television channels was interrupted on Arabsat and Nilesat, including Syrian television. Syria TV and Syria Drama TV broadcasts stopped on Hotbird on October 22, 2012.
On May 26, 2013, opposition forces opened fire on the Syrian television crew near al-Daba'a village in al-Qusayr countryside in Homs province, wounding cameraman Asem al-Shaar. .
