Live coverage of the Teen Choice Awards is underway with Darren Criss and Lucy Hale co-hosting the evening. Performances included One Direction, Demi Lovato, Florida-Georgia Line (with Nelly), and Paramore. Appearances featured Candice Glover, Emblem3, Fifth Harmony and many more. Fans cast more than 150 million votes across the categories—see the full list of winners below.
One Direction opened the show with a live performance of their single “Best Song Ever.” The band delivered a high-energy stage set with lots of jumping and choreography alongside a backing track. After their opening number they returned to accept multiple awards, visibly excited about the recognition and their surfboard-shaped trophies.
Hosts Darren Criss and Lucy Hale welcomed the crowd, traded banter, and updated viewers on early winners. Liam Hemsworth presented awards and shared the stage during several segments. Rebel Wilson of Pitch Perfect won Choice Movie Actress: Comedy and accepted her award in character, while Skylar Astin took home Choice Movie Actor: Comedy and Pitch Perfect won Choice Movie: Comedy. Adam DeVine was named Choice Movie Villain for his role in Pitch Perfect.
The show included a public service reminder about distracted driving. Lucy Hale urged the audience and viewers not to text and drive, and several presenters reinforced the PSA throughout the night.
Presenters included Chloe Mintz, Joey King, and others who handed out awards in music and film categories. Selena Gomez won Choice Break-Up Song as well as Choice Summer Female Star and Choice Female Hottie. Pretty Little Liars was honored in multiple television categories, and several cast members joined the stage to accept awards.
Florida-Georgia Line and Nelly performed “Cruise,” introduced by Candice Glover, Bella Thorne, and Joey King. Demi Lovato performed “Made in the USA,” with Nick Jonas playing drums during her set. Later Demi accepted the Choice Female Artist surfboard and dedicated the award in a heartfelt moment.
Fifth Harmony presented the Acuvue Inspire Award, which went to Nick Jonas in recognition of his fundraising and advocacy. The evening also featured a moving Glee tribute: the cast accepted Choice TV Show: Comedy and several members spoke about their late colleague Cory Monteith. Lea Michele accepted an award in an emotional moment and dedicated it to his memory.
Logan Lerman accepted Choice Movie Actor: Drama for The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which also won Choice Movie: Drama. Other presenters included Russell Westbrook and Michelle Rodriguez, and Bruno Mars accepted awards remotely via satellite while on tour, performing a humorous acceptance in his signature style.
The Ultimate Choice Award was presented to Ashton Kutcher, who delivered an advice-filled acceptance speech about hard work, perseverance, and creating your own life. Awards across TV, music, fashion and film honored a wide range of popular artists and shows—winners are listed in full below.
The broadcast closed with a large-scale twerking attempt intended to set a record for the most people twerking at once. Though the stunt felt chaotic on stage, the show wrapped with the final trophy presentations and good-natured banter from the hosts.
