The Voice alum Morgan Wallen Dominates 2023 Billboard Music Awards
The 2023 Billboard Music Awards took a different approach this year, opting not to air on network television. Winners and performances were revealed throughout the day and evening across BBMAs.watch and official Billboard social channels. Country star Morgan Wallen emerged as the night’s biggest winner with 11 trophies, while Taylor Swift led the female winners with 10 awards. Those totals added to a notable evening: Taylor Swift’s 10 wins and Drake’s five on the same night shifted artist tallies at the BBMAs.
Wallen captured both Top Billboard 200 Album for One Thing at a Time and Top Hot 100 Song for “Last Night.” A season 6 alum of The Voice, he had previously earned four Billboard Music Awards; his total now stands at 15 career BBMAs, placing him second among country artists behind Garth Brooks, who has 20. In the country-specific categories this year, Wallen won Top Country Artist, Top Country Album, Top Country Song and Top Country Tour.
Meanwhile, American Idol alum Lauren Daigle continued her dominance in Christian music, winning Top Christian Artist for a record-extending fourth time. The 2023 ceremony also introduced several new categories and recognized artists across genres and global markets.
