The Kelly Clarkson Show Wins Nine Daytime Emmy Awards in 2023, Bringing Its Total to 22
The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards finally took place on Friday night, December 15, at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The ceremony, delayed from its usual June date due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes, aired live on CBS with Entertainment Tonight hosts Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner returning as emcees. Creative and Lifestyle Emmys were presented the following day, Saturday, December 16.
Two alumni from American Idol now lead major syndicated daytime talk shows. Kelly Clarkson, the original American Idol champion, led the night with an impressive nine wins out of 11 nominations. Her show picked up top honors including Outstanding Daytime Talk Series and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host. Season 3 alum Jennifer Hudson’s syndicated series, The Jennifer Hudson Show, was nominated in several categories but did not secure wins in the six categories for which it was entered, and Hudson was not nominated in the host category this year.
The Jennifer Hudson Show is in its second season, while The Kelly Clarkson Show is in its fifth season and is now producing from its new home at Rockefeller Center in New York City. Over four seasons of Daytime Emmy consideration, The Kelly Clarkson Show has accumulated 22 Emmy wins. Kelly Clarkson herself has been recognized multiple times, winning four awards for her work as host, and the series has claimed the Outstanding Daytime Talk Series trophy three times.

Following the televised awards, Kelly Clarkson posted a heartfelt thank-you to social media, expressing gratitude to everyone involved with the show. She wrote that she was proud of her entire team and thanked those who launched the series as well as the new collaborators who joined this season. Clarkson also acknowledged the guests and fans who make the show possible, and she praised the support from her new colleagues at 30 Rock, where the show now broadcasts.
