American Idol 2024 Top 24 Polls: VOTE for your FAVORITE Performance, PREDICT who will LEAVE the show
Voting is now open and America gets to decide which singers advance and who heads home. Below you’ll find our updated thoughts, favorite performances from this round, and the interactive polls to cast your predictions and ballot. For a full recap of the night, see our recap from tonight available on the site.
Last week’s polls: OOPS!
A quick note about last week’s poll: an entry error left Blake Proehl off the voting list, which skewed results and made the poll unreliable. With Blake omitted, the top results showed Abi Carter leading with 12.74%, followed by Kayko at 9.76%, Julia Gagnon at 8.23%, K.B. Richins at 6.69%, and Mckenna Breinholt at 6.13%. The distribution was fairly even, with no single contestant dominating the vote.
Additional insights from that poll: 56% of voters liked the Idol Arena format while 43% did not. Favorite judge results were Katy at 30.14%, Lionel at 27.66%, Luke at 24.47%, and 17.73% of respondents said they preferred none of them. When asked to grade the season so far, fans gave a B 47% of the time, A 32.57%, C 15.33%, D 3.07%, and F 1.15%.
Back to the Top 24…
This round was mentored by American Idol alum Tori Kelly, who provided specific, usable guidance rather than vague platitudes. Her notes clearly helped several singers refine their performances and focus on what mattered most for each song.
That said, some contestants struggled with the arrangement and band choice. Singer-songwriters who thrive with minimal, acoustic accompaniment were occasionally overpowered by a full electric band. Performers like McKenna Breinholt and Hailey Mia might have benefited from a softer backing track to better showcase their vocal nuance and storytelling.
The Top 24 phase marks the real beginning of the competition’s momentum: extended performances, clearer production choices, and the ramp-up to eliminations. The weeks ahead will reveal who can consistently stand out under pressure.
One important scheduling note: elimination prediction polls will close on Wednesday, April 10 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. The Top 20 round films that day and spoilers may surface before the episode airs. To keep predictions fair, polls will be paused at that time, and we’ll publish results after the filming concludes so everyone can compare votes with the actual outcomes.
Favorite Performances
Standouts this week included Kayko, who continues to grow as an artist — willing to take creative risks and show emotional range. K.B. Richins delivered a strong rendition of the frequently covered “Heaven” that felt heartfelt and controlled. Will Mosley is another contestant to watch; his performances suggest he has the vocal versatility and stage presence to go far in the competition.
Prediction:
My early read: Blake Proehl’s charm may not be enough to guarantee safety if his performances don’t connect more deeply with voters. Hailey Mia could be vulnerable as well; despite deserving to advance, she received lukewarm critiques and her performance was somewhat downplayed in the episode’s edit, which may affect viewer recall and votes.
