The three-hour episode that revealed the American Idol 2024 Top 20 delivered an intense night of performances and the farewell to four contestants. After two nights of Top 24 performances, judges and producers confirmed which singers advanced and which were eliminated. With the live portion of season 22 beginning the following Monday (April 15), the stakes are higher: the Top 14 will be announced and the live voting era begins.
The format for the upcoming Top 14 reveal is straightforward. The host will announce a Top 10 who will each perform a victory song. The remaining ten artists will perform again to compete for four Wildcard spots, which will be chosen by the judges: Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan.
