The Voice 25 Playoffs BEGIN: Everything fans need to know
The Voice season 25’s Knockouts wrapped last week, leaving a Top 20 who will compete in the Playoffs for a place in the live shows. The Playoffs will be presented in two episodes on NBC: Monday, April 22, and Monday, April 29, both at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
Because this round was recorded months ago, the Playoffs are pre-taped and the outcomes have already been decided. That means viewer voting will not determine results for these episodes. The good news is that beginning in May the competition moves into three weeks of live broadcasts featuring a Top 10, and live results will air on Tuesdays for the remainder of the season.
Each two-hour Playoff episode focuses on two teams. On April 22, artists from Team John Legend and Team Dan + Shay perform. By the end of the night, each of those coaches will select three singers to move forward to the live shows; two contestants from each of those teams will be eliminated. There are no additional saves or steals available during this round. Four artists — one chosen as a Playoff Pass from each coach earlier in the season — return to the competition and will be part of the fight for the live shows.
Coaches also enlisted celebrity advisors to help prepare their artists for the Playoffs. Saweetie will advise Team Dan + Shay, and Maluma will work with Team Legend. NBC has not announced advisors for Team Reba McEntire and Team Chance the Rapper, whose artists will perform on the April 29 episode.
Below is a breakdown of who will perform on each Playoffs night, including which artists earned a Playoff Pass and which were stolen during the Knockouts.

The Playoffs are a pivotal moment in the season: coaches must make tough decisions to narrow their rosters. With only three spots available per team to advance to the live shows, performances will be scrutinized both for vocal ability and for how well an artist can connect with an audience on a big stage. Since this round is not subject to public voting, coaches’ choices determine who moves forward from these episodes.
Fans should tune in to both Playoff nights to see which acts earn their coaches’ votes and which talented performers will be cut before live voting begins. Starting in May, when the live shows commence, viewers will once again have the opportunity to vote and influence who stays in the competition as the field narrows to the season’s final contenders.
Keep an eye on NBC’s schedule for any updates about guest advisors or special segments on the April 29 episode. Until then, the Playoffs mark the final pre-recorded showdown before The Voice moves into its high-stakes live phase.
