That consistency has been his strength and, at times, a limitation—his set choices have mostly remained within a comfortable country-soul range. After some prompting from the judges, Will began adding more dynamic moments to his performances, but his evolution has been more gradual than dramatic.
Jack Blocker is the season’s dark horse. After a rocky audition moment that initially ended with two judges saying no, he was brought back into the competition and has climbed steadily ever since. Jack’s Americana and folk roots are obvious, but he has surprised viewers by confidently tackling high-energy, unexpected arrangements and delivering strong stage presence both with and without his guitar. His unpredictable song choices and rising confidence at the right time make him a serious contender.

This season defies a clear-cut favorite. Abi’s early momentum and songwriting chops contrast with Will’s steady country-soul appeal and Jack’s late surge and adventurous performances. Rather than a runaway favorite, Season 22 feels like one of those finales where each artist has a legitimate path to victory.
