Dancing with the Stars 2024: Season 33 Oscar Night — Dance Styles and Song Choices

Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars returns for Week 2 with a special “Oscar Night” showcase, when all 13 celebrity-pro pairs will perform routines inspired by iconic songs from Oscar-nominated films. The broadcast premieres on TUESDAY, SEPT. 24 (8:00–10:01 p.m. EDT/PDT, 7:00–9:01 p.m. CDT), simulcasting live across ABC and Disney+ in local time zones, with episodes available the next day on Hulu. This themed evening blends classic Hollywood flair with the competitive energy of DWTS, offering a varied night of ballroom and Latin rhythms tied to memorable movie moments.

The episode opens with a large production number to “Hooray For Hollywood” by Richard A. Whiting, performed with arrangements by the Boston Pops Orchestra & John Williams. Choreographers Britt Stewart and Alan Bersten stage the opening and also guide several partner segments throughout the night. Couples will deliver a range of dance styles, including Rumba, Jive, Foxtrot, Paso Doble, Quickstep, Waltz, Salsa and Tango, each tailored to the emotional core of the song and the film it represents.

Voting will be available live for viewers in the Eastern and Central time zones while the show simulcasts. During that window, viewers across the United States, its territories and Canada can vote online via the official DWTS voting site. Fans on participating U.S. wireless carriers may also cast votes via SMS/text; note that SMS/text voting is not available in Canada. Judges’ scores combined with viewer votes determine which couples advance and which face elimination.

The season’s first elimination will be a DOUBLE elimination!

Important: Live viewer votes from the first two weeks will be combined with the judges’ scores from both weeks to determine which couples may be eliminated in a double-elimination format. That means performances this week carry added weight: strong scores and solid viewer support across both weeks will be critical to avoiding the two-couple exit.
