A new episode of Survivor 48 airs tonight on CBS. Read the live recap below for a full breakdown of the tribal politics, challenges, and the latest elimination.
After tribal council, Vula returns to camp shaken. Mary admits she was stunned that Kevin was sent home but is relieved to still be in the game — even though she knows she’s on the bottom of the tribe. Sai remains suspicious of Cedrek and Justin, who had earlier encouraged her to play an idol she ultimately didn’t need. She plans to search for the hidden immunity idol the next day to secure extra protection.
On Day 6 with the Civa tribe, David’s impressive physical presence draws attention, but he opens up about his real-life struggles. At 38, he lives in a trailer park near his father’s home and isn’t financially stable enough to settle down. He says winning the $1 million prize would be transformative for him and his girlfriend.
Over on the Lagi tribe, Joe starts a bonfire to lift morale. In confessional, Shauhin names Joe as his top ally, and together with Thomas they form the informal “California Girls” bloc: Thomas is close to Bianca, Joe to Eva, and that leaves Star feeling isolated. Tensions rise when Eva gives Joe a bracelet for his daughter in front of everyone, prompting Thomas to question Joe’s loyalty. Thomas and Shauhin exchange looks, both appearing to agree that Eva may need to go.
Back at Vula, Mary and Sai head out in search of the hidden immunity idol. Sai trails Mary closely to make sure Mary doesn’t find it, instructing Cedrek that they need to keep an eye on her. Mary dashes into the forest with Sai hot on her heels; Sai explains later that she respects Mary’s gameplay, which is why she’s targeting her.
Mitch reports that the Civa tribe is clicking well and he’d like to run deep in the game with the group, but he names Charity as his primary ally. Charity returns the sentiment. They strategize to keep David and Kyle around as shields. Mitch later confides in Kyle about alliance dynamics, and Kyle feels secure in the middle — he and David could side with Mitch and Charity or reconnect with their original pair, Chrissy and Kamilla. Kyle also reveals he has a hidden immunity idol, giving him extra confidence.
On Lagi, Eva speaks privately with Star and avoids committing to an alliance while probing whether Star has an idol or a clue — Star denies it. Eva, who already heard Joe’s version, knows Star is lying and tries to play it off by pitching Thomas and Bianca as potential targets. After that conversation, Star spins the story to Thomas and Bianca, painting Eva as untrustworthy. That shifts Thomas and Bianca toward working with Star and forming a majority against Joe and Shauhin.
The immunity challenge demands coordination: one caller guides blindfolded teammates to collect three bags of keys, then directs a blindfolded player to solve a slide puzzle. The first two tribes to finish win immunity plus rope and tarp. Shauhin, Cedrek, and Kamilla begin as callers for their tribes. Lagi and Civa surge ahead while Vula falls behind and can’t recover. Lagi wins immunity, and shortly after, Civa secures the second immunity. That leaves Vula headed back to tribal council. Jeff announces an upcoming Journey, sending Bianca, Justin, and Kamilla from Lagi to compete.
Back at Vula, Mary plays calm and acts like she found an idol — going for a swim to appear unconcerned. Sai, already paranoid, interprets Mary’s behavior as suspicious and convinces herself Mary may have found something. Sai suggests splitting votes between Mary and Justin in case Justin loses his vote, while Cedrek, who calls Justin his “right-hand guy,” hesitates to write Justin’s name down.
At the Journey, Bianca, Kamilla, and Justin take part in a risk-driven dice game that can grant an extra vote or strip a contestant of their vote. Rolling flames awards an extra vote; rolling skulls costs your vote. Bianca’s rolls produce a mix of skulls and flames but ultimately cost her the vote. Kamilla’s rolls earn her an extra vote. Justin’s rolls result in losing his vote. The outcomes are kept secret initially.
When they return to Lagi, Kamilla honestly shares that she won an extra vote, which excites her tribe. Bianca lies at first about risking her vote, later admitting the truth to Thomas. Justin fabricates a story about the Journey, claiming his rolls were only for comforts like shelter or food and not an advantage, even though he actually lost his vote.
Back at Vula, Cedrek and Justin talk through the night’s options. Cedrek warns Justin that Sai might flip if Mary plays an idol or uses her Shot in the Dark advantage. Justin steps in to tell Sai that Mary doesn’t have an idol, and the group settles on voting for Mary — though Sai remains uncertain. Sai approaches Mary to ask why she stopped searching; Mary replies philosophically that if it’s her time to go, it will be. Her mind games continue to unsettle Sai, who considers voting for Justin to protect herself. Cedrek plans to vote for Mary, but with Justin having no vote, the outcome is far from guaranteed.
At tribal council, the conversation centers on trust and alliances. Cedrek admits the group needs energy and unity; Sai says the tribe hasn’t had a real conversation about working together; Mary confesses she feels outside the core group. Both Mary and Sai acknowledge mutual respect but say they can’t effectively align. Justin warns that anyone could go home. Jeff asks Mary what she expects, and she hints she may have protection.
When the votes are read, Mary surprises everyone by playing her Shot in the Dark advantage before the tally is revealed. Jeff opens the scroll and announces, Mary is safe.
Because Mary cannot be voted out, the tribe revotes without her. Justin remains without a vote, and on the re-vote the ballots force a tie between Justin and Sai. Jeff clarifies the rules and reveals Justin’s loss of voting power to the group. After another tied vote, the tribe becomes deadlocked. With no unanimous resolution, they enter a final discussion phase where Justin and Sai plead their cases to Cedrek, each promising loyalty and a path forward with him. Cedrek presses Sai to reconcile with Mary before deciding.
Justin is ultimately voted out and becomes the third castaway eliminated from Survivor 48. He gives his farewells and has his torch snuffed.
That concludes tonight’s episode of Survivor 48. Tune in next week for another live recap covering the challenges, strategy shifts, and more tribal drama.
