A new episode of Survivor 48 airs tonight on CBS — here is a live recap of the action and the strategic moves that shaped the vote.
The episode opens with half the tribe returning to camp after voting out Sai. Chrissy immediately downplays her earlier comments, insisting she was only “talking smack” about targeting the stronger players like Joe and David. She tells the group she doesn’t want them to feel singled out, though in her confessional she admits she’d prefer to see those strong competitors leave sooner rather than later. Mitch is relieved to have survived the vote and is eager to assert more control in the game.
When the other half of the tribe comes back, they react to Sai and Cedrek being sent home. Mary finds herself the last original Vulu tribemate standing and expresses pride at making it this far.
Later, Shauhin and Joe compare notes. Shauhin admits he was nervous seeing his name written during the previous vote but feels reassured that David and Kyle defended him. He trusts David but is less confident about Mary, noting that he hasn’t formed a strong bond with her. Shauhin thinks Kamilla is a more trustworthy ally, though he recognizes David prefers bringing Mary into the fold.
The next morning brings tree mail with a hint: contestants will be paired for the upcoming immunity challenge. Joe encourages everyone to make their pairing preferences known, and in his confessional he says he’s watching who reveals their allies. Shauhin requests Kamilla as his partner, David pairs with Mary, Kyle pairs with Chrissy, Joe teams with Eva, and Star and Mitch become the final default pair. Chrissy observes in confessional that Joe and Eva seem to be controlling the conversation and the plan.
Tensions rise as Eva repeats Chrissy’s earlier comments to others, revealing that Chrissy suggested taking out Shauhin instead of Cedrek would have been the “smart move.” That revelation consolidates a consensus among some players that Chrissy should be targeted next.
Mitch frames his situation as an uphill battle. He hopes for a regrouping of the original Civa members into a five-person alliance that would add Mary as a sixth, but David is pushing a different direction with an alliance that includes Joe, Shauhin, and Eva. Kyle is caught in the middle, concerned that voting out easy targets now could reduce opportunities to make a big move later.
The immunity challenge unfolds in stages. First, pairs race through a sand tunnel to dig up planks and plant flags; the last two pairs are eliminated. Next, remaining pairs use the planks to build steps and construct a rope bridge; the last pair is eliminated. The final stage is an individual endurance test: holding onto a pole as long as possible. The last person standing wins immunity, while the final four also earn a taco picnic reward. The two earliest eliminated pairs must risk a vote at the Journey.
Joe and Eva finish the first stage first, followed by David and Mary, then Kyle and Chrissy. Shauhin, Kamilla, Star, and Mitch are eliminated at that point. In stage two, David and Mary take an early lead and cross the rope bridge first; Joe and Eva finish second, while Chrissy and Kyle fall behind and are eliminated. The final individual endurance round comes down to David, Mary, Joe, and Eva. Joe slips off first, then David. The showdown becomes Mary versus Eva; Mary gradually loses her grip and drops. Eva wins immunity, securing safety for herself and a picnic reward for her group.
Back at camp, Kyle and Chrissy — the first eliminated pair — talk strategy. Chrissy pushes for voting Joe out that night, while Kyle suggests Shauhin as a safer, easier target. In confessional, Kyle admits he has been positioning Shauhin as a viable option but also says he trusts Joe.
At the Journey, Shauhin, Kamilla, Mitch, and Star play a luck-based game that involves drawing balls into a chute. The first player to accumulate three red balls loses the right to vote at tribal council. Players can draw one or two balls and can see some upcoming draws. Star gets red balls early, and Kamilla’s draws ultimately force Star to take a third red ball. Star will not have a vote at tribal council that night.
Meanwhile, Eva, Mary, David, and Joe enjoy their picnic. While snacking, Eva finds a scroll tucked under the chips and keeps its contents secret for the moment — she already holds a hidden immunity idol and wants to avoid drawing extra attention. The group discusses strategy: David and Mary express concern about Shauhin and Kamilla making moves against them, while Joe says he fully trusts Shauhin. David suggests targeting Kamilla instead of Chrissy, and Mary agrees. Joe says he would go along with a vote for Kamilla if David and Mary push for it.
That night, Eva reads the scroll and discovers she can sneak out under cover of darkness to retrieve an advantage. Given how visible her relationships and idol are, she prefers a stealthy extra tool.
Joe catches up with Kyle and learns David and Mary are intent on voting Kamilla out. Kyle refuses to back that move, revealing he won’t vote for Kamilla. He also tells Joe Chrissy mentioned Joe’s name earlier, prompting Joe to favor voting Chrissy out first and Kamilla later.
David later argues for bringing Mary into a Strong Five and insists moving on Kamilla would be the smarter play. Kyle resists, and his resistance looks suspicious to David — however, unknown to others, Kyle and Kamilla are actually close allies, keeping that bond hidden.
Kyle privately tells Kamilla they need to vote out Chrissy to save Kamilla, warning her that David is targeting her. A meeting of Joe, David, Kyle, Mary, and Eva follows; Joe reiterates that Chrissy named his name and prefers to vote her out. Eva, David, and Mary remain committed to voting Kamilla, outnumbering Joe and Kyle’s plan. David and Mary agree on Kamilla as the target. Afterward, Joe and Kyle discuss the possibility of flipping and voting Chrissy out despite the earlier numbers.
At tribal council, Jeff probes how the day’s separate conversations affected everyone’s thinking. Players offer different takes: Kyle calls it a long, draining day; Mary notes conversations went in many directions; Star says she felt left out since she lost her vote; Kamilla positions herself as a dependable ally; David emphasizes the necessity of making smart moves; Chrissy warns against letting the strongest players run the game unchecked; and Mitch stresses that the game is cutthroat and sometimes loyalty must be set aside. With arguments made on all sides, the vote proceeds.
Jeff reads the votes aloud:
Chrissy
Shauhin
Chrissy
Chrissy
Chrissy
Chrissy
Chrissy is the ninth person voted out and the second member of the jury.
That concludes tonight’s episode of Survivor. Check back next week for another live recap of the strategies, alliances, and surprises as the game continues.
