American Idol 2025 Top 24 Part 1 Polls: VOTE for your FAVORITE Performance, PREDICT who will LEAVE the show

Voting is now open for the first time this season as America begins deciding which contestants will stay and which will leave American Idol. Tonight’s performances (April 13) marked the first live voting opportunity, and fans are encouraged to cast their votes for their favorite singers before elimination results are revealed. A recap of the episode is available for readers who want a full rundown of each performance and judges’ reactions.

Two contestants will be sent home from each night of competition this week. The show will reveal a Top 20 during next Sunday’s Easter Worship Special (April 20), which will feature performances in a faith-themed round. Expect another set of polls after the remaining Top 24 perform on Monday night as the competition continues to narrow.

Season schedule note: The competition continues across multiple live broadcasts, with elimination rounds, themed special episodes, and the eventual reveal of the Top 20. Stay tuned to official broadcasts for exact dates and times of upcoming episodes.

Last week’s polls

Following the Top 24 announcement last week, we ran reader polls to gauge early favorites and opinions about the judges and the season so far. The top three favorite contestants in that poll were Breanna Nix (11.19%), Slater Nalley (10.38%), and Drew Ryn (9.11%). Jamal Roberts placed fourth with 8.44% and Mattie Pruitt was fifth with 7.84%.

Regarding the judges, 82% of respondents support Carrie Underwood’s role on the panel, while 17.39% expressed dissatisfaction. In that same poll Carrie was the most popular judge, earning 50.13% of the vote as favorite judge, followed by Lionel Richie with 32.15% and Luke Bryan with 17.72%.

Fans grading the season so far gave it a strong mark: most responses clustered around B (48.32%) and A (38.55%), averaging to a B+ impression of the season’s early stretch.

A few notes on The Top 24 Part 1

Jamal Roberts stood out with a powerful cover in the prime slot, delivering a country-tinged performance that felt authentic and natural. In contrast, Victor Solomón offered a more calculated take on a Luke Bryan song that didn’t land as organically—though Victor has delivered strong covers in other rounds.

Young singer-songwriter Zaylie Windsor presented an inventive arrangement of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass.” The televised edit hinted that she may have adjusted the arrangement between an initial, more intimate acoustic approach and a larger, uptempo second half. While the bigger finish may have stretched beyond her best stylistic fit, her strengths lie in songwriting and nuanced delivery rather than belting to match larger-voiced competitors like Kolbi or Breanna.

An unexpected endorsement came for Slater Nalley after his rendition of “Over the Rainbow”: former House Speaker Newt Gingrich publicly urged supporters to vote for him, noting the Georgia connection between the two. That kind of attention can spark additional interest in a contestant’s campaign.

Breanna Nix remains a frontrunner thanks to consistently strong performances and a solid social media presence; her numbers point to a real chance at the title. Still, do not count out capable dark-horse contenders like Gabby Samone, who could build momentum as the live rounds progress.

One more note:

Important timeline: elimination prediction polls will close on Wednesday, April 16 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. The Top 20 round will be filmed that day, and spoilers may emerge before the episode airs. To keep poll results as fair as possible and avoid skewing by fans with advance knowledge, we will limit the voting window and close prediction polls before any likely spoilers appear.

We will publish the results of both polls later this week. After the Top 20 is revealed and spoilers circulate, readers who followed the prediction poll can compare their guesses to the actual outcomes in the subsequent spoiler post. It will be interesting to see who came closest.
