American Idol 2023 winner Iam Tongi Announces Tour Dates – See the Schedule
American Idol season 21 winner Iam Tongi has announced his first concert appearances following his Idol victory. The singer-songwriter will play a mix of festivals and club dates across the United States and internationally, starting with a major outdoor festival and concluding the current run at a New Zealand event this October. The announcement confirms several confirmed stops and notes that additional shows will be added to the itinerary.
Iam’s summer schedule opens on June 23 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he is set to perform at the Beach-It! Festival alongside fellow country artists and the 2021 American Idol winner Chayce Beckham, as well as longtime Idol judge Luke Bryan. The three-day festival lineup also includes performers from other national music competitions. After Virginia Beach, Iam returns to Hawaii on July 1 to play an Ohana Day concert at Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku — the same venue where he staged his Hometown concert following his time on American Idol.
Following his Hawaii appearance, Iam heads back to the mainland with a stop in Tacoma, Washington for the Reggae on the Way festival. Summer dates then continue through California with performances at Ventura Music Hall and a pair of nights at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. He will also appear at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles and at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz. The announced U.S. portion wraps up later in the season with the Holo Holo Festival in Sacramento on September 9, before the tour concludes at Eden Festival in Auckland, New Zealand on October 7.
The social announcement emphasized that more dates are forthcoming. For ticketing information, Iam has directed fans to the link in his Instagram bio; he has not launched an official website. On Instagram, he wrote, “I’ll be seeing you on the road this summer! Some tickets are already available at the link in my bio & more will be available soon – check the individual festival/venue websites for full details.”

Iam is Currently Writing New Music
Beyond touring, Iam Tongi is back in the studio working on new material. Speaking with American Songwriter, he acknowledged that he has written a lot of songs — “some of them not so good,” he said candidly — and described songwriting as a process where repetition produces improvement: “The more you do it…the better you get…the more creative thoughts you have.” He confirmed he is developing a new track that he believes “will be a cool song,” though he offered no additional details.
Iam has shared studio photos on social media that indicate he’s collaborating with producers and songwriters. In one post he mentioned working with Olivier Bassil and an artist known as Clever. Olivier Bassil has production credits with established hip hop artists, and Clever is a songwriter and performer from Alabama; Iam credited both in a brief studio update and expressed excitement about creating new music together.
Since winning American Idol in May 2023, Iam has maintained strong fan interest. He first rose to prominence when his audition performance of “Monster” went viral; that emotional rendition was dedicated to his father, who had passed away months earlier. His Idol run finished with a Top 3 that included Christian singer Megan Danielle as runner-up and country performer Colin Stough as second runner-up. The post-Idol performances, ongoing songwriting and an expanding list of live dates suggest Iam is building momentum as he moves from television success to a touring artist and recording musician.
