HunterGirl, the country singer-songwriter who finished as runner-up on American Idol 2022, is teasing what appears to be her next single, titled “Lonely Outta You.” After wrapping a co-headlining tour last year with Idol winner Noah Thompson, HunterGirl has returned to the road for a string of solo shows where she’s debuting new material and connecting with fans one performance at a time.
During recent performances, HunterGirl introduced a new original that speaks directly to anyone who’s been hurt in past relationships. She explained to the audience that the song was written for people who’ve been left with broken pieces and lingering loneliness — and then she sang along with a backing track, giving listeners a preview of the song’s intimate, healing message.
A snippet of the lyrics shared in her live performances captures the song’s tender promise: “I wanna love the lonely out of you, So whatever whoever didn’t do, Pick up the pieces that they broke, Hold you like I won’t let go if you want me to, I wanna love the lonely out of you…” Those lines showcase HunterGirl’s knack for heartfelt storytelling and a voice that carries both vulnerability and determination.
She also teased the song in two social posts, suggesting that “Lonely Outta You” is likely to be her next single. The social teasers have generated buzz among her followers and country music fans, eager to hear a full studio version. For now, listeners can enjoy the live previews she’s been sharing from the stage and on social channels.
Last fall, HunterGirl released her first post-American Idol single, “Hometown Out of Me,” via 19 Recordings/BBR Music Group. That song served as a heartfelt thank-you to the community that supported her early ambitions and recent rise to national attention.
“My hometown has supported my dream since I was little and especially through this crazy year of my life,” HunterGirl said about the single. “I wanted my first single following the show to be a thank you card to my hometown. The reason I get to chase my dream is because of the amazing people who have supported me. No matter where this journey takes me, I will never forget where I came from.”
A Tennessee native, HunterGirl has been performing since the age of three and writing songs since she was nine. In her teens she played venues across the country, entered vocal competitions, and won the 2014 Texaco Country Showdown — early milestones that helped shape her career and stage presence.

After finishing high school, HunterGirl relocated to Nashville, where she immersed herself in the city’s music scene. She quickly became a familiar presence on the stages of well-known Nashville venues such as Tootsie’s, Rippy’s, Jason Aldean’s Bar, The Listening Room, and Honky Tonk Central. Along the way she earned recognition in songwriting competitions, including successes in contests like “Nash Next” and events run by the Nashville Songwriters Association International.
Beyond performance and recordings, HunterGirl has used music as a way to give back. With family members in the military, she’s been motivated to work with veteran organizations, applying music therapy and songwriting to help veterans express and transform their experiences into songs.
During her American Idol journey, HunterGirl performed her original winner’s song “Red Bird” on national television — including an emotional performance on Live with Kelly & Ryan — and she has also appeared on Good Morning America. Those televised moments introduced her songwriting and vocal style to a broader audience and helped solidify her reputation as an expressive country artist with a strong storytelling voice.
