Monday Mediabase Report: Eight Milestones and a New No. 1 Album
This week’s Monday Mediabase Report highlights eight notable chart milestones and a major new album debut. Strong releases, seasonal holiday tracks beginning to surface on Adult Contemporary, and multiple radio format breakthroughs make this a busy week for artist achievements across Pop, HAC (Hot AC), Country, Rhythmic, and AC charts.
Kelly Clarkson leads the celebration with her eighth studio album, Meaning of Life, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 79K equivalent album units and 68K in traditional album sales. The album is her eighth to enter the Billboard 200 top 10. Its lead single, “Love So Soft,” also reached a new radio milestone this week by entering the HAC top 10. The track is performing well across formats, currently placing in the top 15 on AC and within the top 30 on Pop radio.
The holiday season is starting to affect radio playlists as Christmas songs begin to appear on the AC chart. Kelly Clarkson’s “Christmas Eve” debuts inside the AC top 30, followed closely by Pentatonix’s “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!,” signaling the earliest seasonal rotation for many AC stations.
Camila Cabello marks two milestones this week. Her debut solo single “Havana” continues to climb, securing a top 10 position on Pop radio and breaking into the top 20 on Rhythmic formats. Meanwhile, “Crying in the Club” is being positioned as an early teaser single as she continues to build momentum across multiple formats.
From the former X-Factor contestants, both Niall Horan and Harry Styles notch Pop chart milestones. Niall’s third single “Too Much To Ask” moves into the Pop top 30, while Harry’s “Kiwi” enters the Pop top 50. These placements reflect continued radio interest in solo work from recent boy-band alumni.
Other format-specific milestones this week include Mandisa, the season 5 American Idol alum, who reached the top 20 on the Christian AC chart with “Bleed the Same.” From the world of reality TV and country crossover, Chase Rice’s “Three Chords & the Truth” achieved top 40 status on Country radio. Instrumental-electronic crossover artist Lindsey Stirling also sees “Love’s Just a Feeling” return to the AC top 30.
Industry reporting (Billboard) notes that Kenny Chesney earned his eighth No. 1 album with Live in No Shoes Nation. The live set is the first live album to top the Billboard 200 since the Hope for Haiti Now charity project in 2010. Of the 219K total units reported for the week, 217K were counted as album sales; approximately 197K of those sales were internet purchases, many connected to ticket bundle offerings during the album’s release window.
