Survivor Season 45 Finale: Winner Revealed – Live Recap

Survivor 45 Season Finale Recap: Dee Valladares Wins

The season finale of Survivor 45 airs tonight on CBS. This recap follows the final episodes as the players face the last challenges, tribal councils and the Final Tribal Council that decide the winner.

After Tribal Council, the remaining castaways move to a new camp. Austin reacts to being blindsided by Drew’s elimination — it’s the first time he’s been left out of a plan — but he quickly says there are no hard feelings. Dee and Austin spend time together on the beach, a showmance that some in camp resent. Katurah is especially frustrated that Dee and Austin’s relationship has survived this far.

The next morning brings a multi-station advantage challenge. Three stations around the island contain crabs, coconuts and bamboo, and contestants must count the items to open boxes with number combinations. The stations are far apart, so the race tests stamina and accuracy. Dee and Austin help each other at their stations, while Jake adopts a slower, methodical approach, using a mnemonic of past winners to remember the numbers. Jake’s calm strategy pays off: he opens his box first and secures an advantage for the upcoming immunity challenge.

Immunity is next. Competitors navigate obstacles to release sandbags and land them in baskets that reveal numbers used to open a lock and retrieve a key for puzzle pieces. The first to assemble a three-tier puzzle wins immunity and a trip to the sanctuary. Jeff reveals Jake’s advantage: he only needs to land one basket instead of three. The challenge is tight. Jake’s advantage gets him ahead but a misplaced key forces him to backtrack, allowing Austin to begin the puzzle first. The race becomes a head-to-head: Austin and Jake both complete two tiers, and a missing puzzle piece almost costs Jake the win. Austin pulls ahead and finishes first. Austin wins immunity and selects Jake to join him at the sanctuary.

Back at camp, Dee, Julie and Katurah discuss strategy. Katurah, upset about the immunity loss, wants Dee out and tells Julie she plans to target Dee, but Julie prefers voting Jake. Julie explains in confessional that she hopes to show the jury she was loyal to at least one person — namely Dee.

At the sanctuary, Jake confides that he holds a hidden immunity idol and that he wants Julie voted out. He asks Austin to keep the idol secret, but Austin immediately tells Dee when they return to camp. News of the idol spreads quickly: Jake tells Katurah he has it too. Plans start to shift. Katurah suggests voting Dee instead of Julie, citing Dee as a major threat to win. Jake is tempted by a flashy idol play to impress the jury. Dee tells Julie Jake has an idol; Julie is skeptical. Austin considers targeting Julie, and Dee tells him she’ll likely write Katurah’s name but leaves Austin to make his own call. Jake reassures Katurah he will write Dee’s name at Tribal Council.

At Tribal Council the vote is tense. Jeff references Jake’s earlier advantage and the mishaps that kept him from winning immunity. As votes are cast, alliances wobble. Before the votes are read, Jake plays his hidden immunity idol, using it to protect Katurah. When Jeff reads the votes, the results reveal a split: one vote each for Katurah, Jake, Dee and two for Julie. Julie is eliminated — the fourteenth person voted out and the seventh juror. Julie takes her boot in stride, while Jake is frustrated that Katurah didn’t stick to their plan.

With three left, the final immunity challenge decides who secures a guaranteed spot in the Final 3 and who must face a fire-making tiebreaker. Contestants carefully traverse a rope grid while using a long stick to stack bowls; the first to complete their stack wins. Early on, Austin’s stack falls and Jake becomes overzealous, damaging the rope course and forcing his exit from the challenge. Dee remains steady and places the final bowl to win immunity. With that, Dee locks her place in the Final 3 and must choose which two will battle for the remaining seat via the fire-making challenge.

Dee considers her options. Her ideal Final 3 is Austin and Jake, but she also wants to prevent Austin from adding another big move to his résumé. Jake pleads to be sent to fire-making, desiring one final move to own. Katurah practices making fire and questions her earlier choices. Austin advocates putting him into fire-making instead of Jake, but Dee feels pressure: Katurah is a weaker fire maker, but Austin poses a strategic threat. Ultimately, Dee chooses to bring Austin to the Final 3 and forces Jake and Katurah into the fire-making tiebreaker.

The fire-making showdown is dramatic. Jake gets a spark first and builds a flame that ultimately burns through the rope. Katurah’s fire falters and goes out. Jake wins the fire-making challenge and secures the final spot in the Final 3. Katurah becomes the final juror, graciously reflecting on her experience and revealing she’s a lawyer.

The Final 3 share a last breakfast and prepare for Final Tribal Council. Jurors deliver their questions and verdicts. Kaleb praises Jake’s difficult path to the end. Kellie commends Dee’s social game and resilience. Kendra and Bruce weigh the finalists’ honesty and authenticity. Emily highlights Jake as a potential dark horse, while others probe Dee and Austin about strategy, the Reba 4 alliance and personal motivations. Austin explains he entered the season as an alternate and played with urgency; Dee emphasizes that family and authenticity guided her decisions. Jake describes his game as driven by relationship management and a desire to prove himself.

At the vote, jurors cast their ballots after a final round of questions and closing statements. When Jeff reads the votes, Dee Valladares is declared the winner of Survivor 45. The jury’s votes reflect their impressions of strategy, social bonds and who best played the overall game. Dee celebrates, explaining her goals for the prize money and the importance of supporting her family.

The reunion follows on location, where contestants unpack blindsides, key moves and personal growth. Contestants reflect on memorable moments: Kellie’s surprise blindside, Bruce’s idol left unused, and Kaleb’s luck with a Shot in the Dark. Austin discusses his late casting and the intensity that created, while Julie shares that Survivor has been a second act in her life. Jake earns praise for grinding his way to the end, and Katurah reflects on the lessons learned.

Survivor 45 concludes with Dee Valladares crowned Sole Survivor. The season closes with reflections from contestants and a preview of the show’s next chapter. Thanks for following this recap; return in the spring for Survivor 46.
