Survivor Season 45 Week 8 Recap, Live Blog and Results
Tonight’s new episode of Survivor aired on CBS, and the tribe returned to camp after back-to-back tribal councils. Alliances shifted, plans unraveled, and the auction and immunity challenge set the stage for a dramatic vote. Below is a clear, scene-by-scene recap of the episode, the auction and challenge outcomes, the tribal council conversation, and who walked away as the latest jury member.
After the double tribal, Drew felt closer to Emily after she voted with him, while he remained determined to target Bruce. Jake admitted he could no longer play recklessly — his earlier plan with Kaleb to engineer a 3-3 split had failed and left him exposed. He told Julie his intent was to save Kaleb rather than to directly target Julie, but Julie said she could no longer trust him.
The next morning the women noted their numerical advantage, 6-4, and discussed the possibility of forming a women’s alliance. Julie liked the idea in principle but acknowledged it would be complicated because she is closely aligned with Austin and Drew. The group’s immediate focus shifted to Bruce; Kellie agreed he was hurting her game and was open to voting him out.
Survivor Auction
Later that day, the Survivors learned the auction was back — with twists. There were no hidden advantages available, and the auction would end without warning. The twist: the player who finished the auction with the most money would lose their vote at the upcoming tribal council.
Before the auction, the castaways had collected bamboo money tubes scattered in the jungle; each tube contained a different cash amount. At the auction, items included snacks and comfort food: pretzels and beer went to Kendra for $360; French fries and soda to Kellie for $500; a covered item bought by Emily for $440 turned out to be a meat and cheese platter with a glass of wine. Dee paid $900 for a chocolate milkshake. Katurah purchased a covered item for $480 that turned out to be two giant fish eyes, which Austin later bought for $100 after Katurah passed.
Other purchases: Drew paid $520 for a bowl of candy; Austin bought pizza for $600; Julie purchased a toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash for $420; Jake bought a chocolate cake for $340 and shared it with Julie and Bruce; Kellie picked up a PB&J, chips and a margarita for $200. Jeff then announced the auction was over: Bruce had accumulated the most cash, leaving him with $80 — which meant he lost his vote at tonight’s tribal council.
A confessional
Back at camp, Kendra reflected in a confessional about meeting her biological father at 18, then the conversation moved back to strategy. Emily admitted to trusting Drew and Austin more than the other women and revealed she had heard discussions about forming an all-women alliance. She named Bruce and Jake as early targets. Katurah said she no longer trusted the former Belo allies and preferred to realign with Reba, agreeing with others that Bruce should be targeted.
Immunity Challenge
The immunity challenge was an endurance test: each player had to hold onto a rope connected to a log equal to one-third of their pre-game body weight. Dropping eliminated them. Jeff also offered a bag of rice as a consolation prize if four people voluntarily sat out; Dee and Emily stepped forward first, Drew joined, and after Jeff damaged the bag to encourage faster decisions, Katurah volunteered to secure what rice remained.
As the challenge progressed and hands descended knot by knot, Kellie was the first to drop on the penultimate knot, followed by Kendra. Austin and Jake fell next, leaving a final showdown between Julie and Bruce. Julie eventually let go, and Bruce outlasted her to claim immunity — a pivotal result, since Bruce had also lost his voting power at auction earlier.
A new target
With Bruce immune, Kendra and Kellie were disappointed; he had been their target. Emily worried Bruce might hand his hidden immunity idol to Jake, which complicated voting plans. Kellie feared becoming the backup pick. Jake, aware he was on the bottom, began searching for an idol, a move many noticed and monitored. Katurah kept an eye on him while Jake asked Bruce if he would give him an idol; Bruce said he would “gauge the room.”
Drew proposed a plan to flip the vote and target Kellie to prevent Jake from spoiling their numbers with an idol play. He floated the idea with Dee, Julie, Austin and Emily. Julie and Dee preferred voting out Jake, making the final decision contentious and uncertain going into tribal council.
Tribal Council
At tribal council, conversation centered on the rice deal, loyalty, and who had the right to step out. Drew framed the rice decision as pragmatic; Jake countered that altruism rarely exists in Survivor and argued that if everyone ganged up on him it would be a mistake for the side making that move. Kellie spoke about the challenge of balancing safety and bold play. Katurah noted Jake’s legal background and his attempts to rally votes from other desperate players. Emily emphasized how rare it was for the group to be unanimously aligned.
Jake, who suspected he was the target, hinted he could control who went home if he had an idol — then corrected himself to say “if he has an idol.” Katurah warned people didn’t want to be hit by a stray idol play. After final statements, the tribe cast their votes.
Elimination
Before the votes were read, Jake played his Shot in the Dark advantage; when Jeff read the votes, the advantage did not save him. The votes read: three for Jake, and five for Kellie. Kellie Nalbandian was voted out, becoming the ninth castaway eliminated and the second member of the jury. She was visibly blindsided and stunned as Jeff snuffed her torch; Kendra was tearful and Jake looked shocked. Kellie said she respected the move before leaving.
That concludes this week’s episode of Survivor Season 45. The auction twist, Bruce’s immunity, and Kellie’s blindside reshuffled the late-game dynamics heading into the next episode. Check back for the next live recap and episode results.
