Survivor Season 45 — Week 9 Recap and Live Blog Results

Tonight’s episode of Survivor 45 delivered more shifting alliances, a high-stakes immunity challenge and a dramatic tribal council. Read the full live recap of Week 9, including who won immunity, who lost voting power and who was eliminated.

The episode opens with the tribe returning to camp after Kellie’s surprise blindside. Jake is relieved he survived and believes the vote opens new possibilities for his game. Bruce is stunned and hurt by what he heard Kellie said about him — that she viewed him as overbearing — and begins to question how others perceive him. Kendra mourns the loss of her close ally Kellie and searches for a path forward.

Kendra confides her plans to Katurah and admits she wants to target Dee next. Katurah later tells Julie about Kendra’s conversation, signaling she remains aligned with the Reba alliance rather than her original Belo tribe. Meanwhile, Austin now holds two hidden immunity idols after Kellie’s exit: one standard idol and a converted amulet that functions as an idol now that J. Maya and Kellie are gone. The Reba core — Austin, Drew, Dee and Julie — plot to flush out Bruce’s idol and name Jake and Kendra as potential next targets.

Reconsidering alliances

The next morning Bruce wrestles with the loss of his closest ally and the sting of being labeled overbearing. He wonders whether he needs to change how he relates to others in the game. At the same time, Emily raises the idea of voting out Dee to Austin and Drew. Their hesitation forces Emily to reassess her place within the shifting power structure; she’s reluctant to be at the bottom of a five-person alliance.

Austin tries to thread two alliances together — the Reba group with Drew, Dee and Julie, and his tighter trio with Drew and Emily. He’s grown close to Dee and is reluctant to see her go, which complicates the group’s voting plans.

Before tribal council the castaways receive tree mail: they must split into three trios for the immunity challenge. The teams are Drew/Dee/Jake, Katurah/Emily/Austin, and Julie/Kendra/Bruce. Julie worries being in a trio could make her an easy target, so Austin gives Julie an idol for safekeeping in case she needs it.

It’s time for the immunity challenge

The immunity competition unfolds in three stages. First, each trio crosses a balance beam while balancing a ball and digs up three rope rungs. The first two trios to finish advance to stage two: building a rope bridge and landing three balls on rings. The winning group from that stage moves to a final individual endurance round where players hold outstretched arms supporting wooden discs; the last person standing wins individual immunity. The duo that reaches the final stage also earns a sanctuary reward of rotisserie chicken.

Jeff Probst announces a twist: the first group eliminated will temporarily lose their votes at tribal council but will have a chance to earn them back during a jungle journey. The challenge begins and the Drew/Dee/Jake trio initially falls behind due to struggles on the balance beam, but they dig up their rope rungs first. Katurah/Emily/Austin fall into last place and are the group that loses their votes — for now.

In the second stage Julie, Kendra and Bruce complete their tasks first and advance with the prize chicken. In the final endurance face-off Kendra drops out first, then Julie, leaving Bruce to outlast them both. Bruce secures immunity.

Who to target?

Back at camp Drew laments Bruce’s immunity win because it prevents the group from flushing a potential idol. Jake tells Drew and Dee he’s now a free agent after being voted against by his former Belo tribemates. After Jake walks away, Drew and Dee discuss targeting Kendra. The sanctuary trio shares the rotisserie chicken and talks strategy: Kendra says she would like to see Dee targeted, but Julie privately admits she wants to go to the end with Dee and would rather boot Jake. Bruce is amenable to voting Jake out because he perceives Jake as unpredictable. Julie senses Jake is emerging as the consensus pick but remains cautious.

Austin earns back his vote

Austin, Emily and Katurah set off on the jungle journey to regain lost votes. They split at a fork and each face a logic puzzle where they must place three plus signs and one minus sign to make a series of numbers equal 100. Only Austin solves the puzzle in time, earning his vote back. Emily and Katurah fail and will be unable to cast votes at tribal council.

When the trio returns, Austin reveals to his Reba allies that he has regained his vote and confirms he and Dee plan to vote Kendra. Julie, however, says both Bruce and Kendra prefer voting Jake. This disagreement highlights a fracture: Dee and Drew insist on targeting Kendra, while Julie pushes for Jake.

Jake or Kendra?

As tribal council approaches, various players make their cases and admit the added uncertainty created by the vote-twist. Kendra reflects on losing Kellie and how hard it was to lose a friend. Jake acknowledges he’s searching for a new alliance and hopes someone will see his value. Jeff probes the group about the immunity challenge and the lost votes. Tension rises as players contemplate who truly has the numbers.

After votes are cast Jeff reads them aloud: the first vote is for Jake, then four votes for Kendra. With the tally complete, Kendra is revealed as the tenth person voted out and the third member of the jury.
