Survivor Season 46 Week 5: Live Recap and Updates

Survivor 46 Episode Recap

A new episode of Survivor 46 airs tonight on CBS. Below is a live-style recap of the episode’s key events, alliances, and the Tribal Council outcome.

After Tribal Council, Yanu returns to camp. Kenzie reflects that Bhanu was a sweet person but not a strong strategic player. Tiffany is quietly pleased to be part of the remaining trio. The mood among Yanu, however, remains low after a stretch of challenge losses and the continued lack of a flint for fire. They are hopeful that a victory in the next challenge will bring food and a morale boost.

On Siga, the women notice Ben paying extra attention to Charlie, raising concerns that Charlie might flip and align with Ben and Tim. Maria and Moriah speculate about who might be hiding an idol—Tim or Ben are suspected—but Jem quietly holds a hidden immunity idol that nobody suspects. The women agree Ben or Tim are the likely targets next. In his confessional, Charlie describes himself and Maria as the middle players on the tribe and says they currently hold influence over votes.

Across the camp on Nami, the group is on an idol hunt. Venus tails Hunter while he searches, and when Hunter pauses so Venus won’t see a discovery, he admits he’s looking for an idol. Venus warns Hunter that he could be seen as a challenge threat once the merge arrives; Hunter acknowledges that concern and says that’s precisely why he wants an idol. After Venus leaves, Hunter discovers a Beware Advantage identical in function to the ones Tiffany and Jem previously found.

Back at Yanu, Q surprises Kenzie by telling her he feels ready to go home. Kenzie is taken aback, but in confessional she calls this news good for her game. Q insists he won’t quit Survivor; he’s trying to make Kenzie feel comfortable and says he believes he and Tiffany could vote out Kenzie if needed. Tiffany confesses privately that a Tribal Council would put her in a difficult position—she doesn’t want to have to choose between Q and Kenzie.

On Siga, Tim grows suspicious and presses Jem about the Beware Advantage; she denies finding it and downplays the existence of a women’s alliance when he asks. Jem later admits in confessional that she can lie easily and that the women are effectively running the tribe.

The immunity challenge pits tribes in a timed, three-level obstacle course where each member runs individually to retrieve a key, untie a hook to release sandbags, and then use a slingshot to knock down a target. Winning tribes earn pastries and fruit in addition to immunity. Tim gives Siga an early lead while Hunter pushes Nami close. Kenzie struggles to get Yanu moving. In the decisive moments, Tevin on Nami and others make strong plays, but Hunter’s accuracy and timing push Nami ahead. Nami secures immunity first.

Yanu rallies and manages to win the head-to-head finish over Siga in a showdown between Q and Tim, with Q knocking down the final target that seals Yanu’s first challenge win in a long while. That loss sends Siga to Tribal Council and ends Yanu’s losing streak. Jeff Probst announces a Journey for three players: Hunter, Tim, and Q.

During the Journey, the three men discuss forming a post-merge alliance among the physical threats. They consider bringing in one extra person from each tribe to create a six-person core: Q selects Tiffany, Tim selects Maria, and Hunter selects Tevin. The Journey also forces a dilemma: to win an advantage they must test their Survivor knowledge; failing the test costs them their vote at the upcoming Tribal Council. Q and Tevin opt out, but Hunter chooses to compete. Hunter must arrange Survivor logos in chronological order; unfamiliar with the exact sequence, he gets only 8 of 20 correct and fails the challenge, losing his vote.

Back at reward camp, Tiffany and Kenzie enjoy pastries and fruit, joined later by Q after he returns from the Journey. At Siga’s camp, the dynamics for Tribal Council are tense. Maria holds an extra vote and Ben had lost his vote during a prior Journey, complicating the arithmetic. Because Siga lost, Jem receives the next step for her Beware Advantage: instructions on how to find a key to unlock a box containing a hidden immunity idol. Following the clue, she paces out twenty-eight steps, digs, locates the key, unlocks the box, and secures a secret idol.

As Siga prepares to vote, Maria, Moriah, and Jem discuss strategy. Maria offers to use her extra vote to target Ben, proposing a split plan of three votes on Ben and two on Tim to guard against any unexpected advantage. The women inform Charlie of their plan to vote Ben out, which surprises him since he has grown closer to Ben. Jem corners both Ben and Tim individually and asks how they’ll vote; Ben is annoyed and voices a desire to vote for Jem but is unable to cast a vote. Tim appears willing to target Jem. Charlie and Maria weigh whether to stay loyal to the women or flip to Ben and Tim’s plan; Charlie sees Ben as a potential shield, while Maria trusts Jem’s loyalty to their group.

At Tribal Council, the conversation is tense but measured. Jeff asks for their thoughts on the vote. Ben mentions they’re “sussing out the vibe.” Maria says it’s time to rip off the bandage—this vote will hurt more than an earlier blindside would have. Moriah admits they’ve been living in “Survivor La La Land,” sticking together too comfortably. The group acknowledges idols and unknown votes could change the outcome. When the ballots are read, the votes fall as follows:

Ben

Jem

Ben

Jem

Jem

Jem

Jem is the fifth castaway voted out of Survivor 46.
