Survivor Season 48 Week 4: Recap and Live Blog

Survivor 48 Episode Recap — Day 8: Tribe Swap, Immunity Challenge, and Tribal Council

A new episode of Survivor 48 aired tonight on CBS. Below is a live recap of the key moments from Day 8, including a tribe swap, shifting alliances, an intense immunity challenge, and a surprising Tribal Council vote.

Morning at Camp: Aftermath and Cautious Optimism

The episode opens on the morning of Day 8. Cedrek reflects that last night’s heavy rain made sleep difficult and that tribal council forced him to choose between close allies. Despite the strain, he remains upbeat. Sai is grateful Cedrek kept her in the game but admits she’s uneasy after seeing her name written down before Justin was voted out. Mary prefers working with Sai rather than against her, and the two briefly discuss the possibility of forming a new bond.

Tribe Swap Shakes Things Up

The castaways meet Jeff Probst for what they expect to be the next challenge, but instead they’re told to drop their buffs — a tribe swap is coming. The players nervously unwrap packages to reveal their new tribes:

New Civa – Chrissy, Mitch, Bianca, Cedrek, and Sai

New Vula – Joe, Shauhin, Thomas, Kyle, and Kamilla

New Lagi – David, Eva, Charity, Star, and Mary

Back at Lagi, Mary describes the rearrangement as a fresh start. Eva notices David is the only man on the tribe and immediately considers the women could band together; she also says she hit it off with David. Eva is unhappy to see Star and, after Star briefly walks away, tells David, Charity, and Mary she wants Star gone — even revealing that Star found the Beware advantage, surprising the others by divulging so much information.

At Civa, Chrissy and Mitch bond over food they’ve foraged and begin to form a working relationship. Sai, disappointed to be separated from some of her former Vula allies, admits she didn’t want to stay near Cedrek but is open to seeing how things play out. Bianca, upset about losing her previous tribe numbers and her prior voting power, says she wants to work with Sai and Cedrek, though Sai remains cautious.

Vula Camp: Hidden Advantages and Growing Suspicion

Vula’s new camp conditions look rough, but Thomas is encouraged to have his “California Girls” allies Joe and Shauhin with him. Unbeknownst to several others, Kyle holds a hidden immunity idol and Kamilla has an extra vote — advantages that could shift the balance despite being outnumbered.

Tension grows as Kamilla and Kyle pretend not to be aligned so they don’t draw attention to their advantages. Kamilla plants suspicion about Thomas and the Journey, prompting Shauhin to confront Thomas. Thomas denies lying and, feeling threatened, decides he wants Kamilla out.

Strategic Conversations at Civa and Lagi

At Civa, Mitch and Cedrek find common ground and form a tentative working relationship. Sai shares intelligence about the former Vula tribe with Bianca in hopes of forging an alliance, but a separate discussion among Chrissy, Mitch, and Cedrek leads them to agree that voting out Bianca would benefit their game since she’s a former Lagi member.

On Lagi, Eva and David continue to connect. Mary sees David as a provider for the tribe, and Charity views him as someone she can influence. David confides to Eva that members of his old tribe don’t fully trust Charity. While Eva still wants Star gone, David reveals he would prefer to target Charity first.

Immunity Challenge: Physicality and Puzzle Play

The immunity challenge tasks tribes with rolling a cube under a structure to retrieve sandbags, landing two sandbags on a barrel, digging up a puzzle piece, and then racing to complete a puzzle. The reward for winning includes fresh fruit in addition to immunity.

Vula jumps into an early lead while Civa lags in third and Lagi struggles at the barrel. Lagi rallies and catches up, ultimately solving their puzzle first. Lagi wins immunity! Civa finishes next and also secures safety. Civa wins immunity! Vula will go to tribal council tonight.

Vula Pre-tribal Jitters and Advantage Plays

Back at Vula, Shauhin feels confident about his alliance with Joe and himself, sensing no imminent danger from Kyle or Kamilla’s possible advantages. Kamilla tells Thomas she supports voting out Kyle and continues the ruse that she and Kyle aren’t tight. Kyle, however, secretly sees Kamilla as his closest ally and begins to fear that Shauhin and Thomas suspect him.

As the evening progresses, the group debates who to send home. Thomas contemplates playing his steal-a-vote advantage if he feels threatened. Kamilla and Kyle plan how to use their advantages to orchestrate a blindside. Shauhin searches Kyle’s bag looking for an idol but comes up empty; Kyle interprets the search as confirmation he’s the target and decides to play his idol proactively.

Tribal Council: Idol Play and a Surprise Exit

At Tribal Council, Jeff notes the numerical advantage the former Lagi members hold. Kamilla admits her challenge performance was lacking and suggests she’s open to voting for Kyle. Kyle and Kamilla give emotional statements about their journey in the game. Thomas explains the brutal reality that everyone is playing for the same prize and will have to crush each other’s dreams to advance.

Before votes are read, Kyle plays his hidden immunity idol for himself.

The votes are read as follows:

Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Thomas, Thomas

Thomas is the fourth person voted out of Survivor 48. Thomas, Joe, and Shauhin are visibly stunned by the outcome. The three embrace Thomas before he has his torch snuffed and departs.

That concludes tonight’s episode of Survivor 48. Keep an eye out for next week’s episode for more shifting alliances and fresh gameplay.
