Survivor Season 48 Week 4 Recap
This episode opens with the Vatu tribe returning to camp after another tense tribal council. Stephenie breathes a sigh of relief that she survived, but she’s visibly shaken by Q’s departure — he had been one of her allies. Excluded from the main vote, Stephenie cast a vote for Angelina, and now she feels uncertain about who to trust. Meanwhile, Emily admits she pushed Ozzy into targeting Q, acknowledging that voting out one of their strongest members may have been a strategic misstep. Ozzy agreed because he saw Q as a major threat; he also makes clear he still wants to break up Mike and Angelina’s bond and intends to target Angelina next to position himself as Mike’s top ally.
Over on Cila, the tribe holds a lighthearted talent show. Rick juggles, Rizo does a Mickey Mouse impression, and Jonathan and Charlie put on a mock wrestling routine. The tribe crowns Rizo the winner, but the celebration masks simmering tensions. In a confessional, Charlie reveals he wants Rizo gone — not because of the talent show, but because of past loyalties and vote choices that left Charlie feeling betrayed. Rizo had called Sophi his closest friend but credited Savannah as playing the best game, and that distinction has made him a target in Charlie’s eyes.
On Kalo, Aubry is on the hunt for a hidden immunity idol despite already holding one that Christian sent her. Genevieve notices Aubry’s absence and follows her, annoyed by the secrecy. The confrontation ends with Genevieve discovering another hidden immunity idol — a Boomerang Idol — and choosing to send it to Rizo. She explains in confessional that she wants to protect Rizo from a potential blindside, with the plan that the idol might ultimately return to her when the timing is right.
The immunity challenge pits the tribes in a water-and-sand endurance test. Castaways must haul a boat onto shore, retrieve and empty buckets of water, then assemble an arch puzzle by spelling the word “celebration” with letter cubes. The first two tribes to finish win immunity and a reward: an afternoon with country star Zac Brown, who will spearfish, provide food, and perform for the winners. Dee, a longtime Zac Brown Band fan, is visibly excited at the prospect.
At the start, Kalo takes an early lead while Vatu struggles. Cila closes the gap and overtakes Kalo briefly, but the race tightens as both Cila and Kalo work on the arch simultaneously. In the end, Kalo completes the puzzle first and clinches immunity; moments later, Cila finishes as well, securing safety. Vatu is left to return to camp knowing they’ll go to tribal council that night. Dee is disappointed not to have earned the reward.
Kalo’s reward scene is a highlight: Zac Brown joins the tribe, spearfishes two large fish, helps prepare the meal, and performs acoustic songs including brief renditions of “Colder Weather” and “I Ain’t Worried About It.” The castaways savor the food and the music — Coach calls the fish the best he’s ever had, and Colby reflects that even if his game ended tomorrow, the reward would have been worth it. Zac offers a confessional about being a long-time fan of Survivor and enjoying the chance to be part of the experience.
Back at Cila, disappointment lingers over missing the reward, and Rizo discovers the boomerang idol waiting in his bag. He doesn’t know Genevieve sent it, but he’s pleased to have protection in his pocket. At Vatu, strategy conversations accelerate: Emily and Ozzy are united in wanting Angelina out to fracture the David vs. Goliath power trio, while Mike pushes back, arguing Angelina is a valuable number and not an immediate threat.
Mike and Christian talk quietly by the water, with Mike pitching Emily as a target. He compares the situation to an old alliance dynamic from a previous season, a comparison that visibly stirs Christian. Christian admits privately that he’s been aligned with Emily since the start and is torn. He tells Stephenie he wants to orchestrate a blindside of Mike instead, sketching out a plan in which he, Stephenie, and Emily vote for Mike; Angelina and Mike vote for Emily; and Ozzy votes for Angelina. Christian’s goal is to remove the person he considers most dangerous now — Mike — while still protecting allies.
Christian shares his plan with Emily and warns her she might be on the block. Emily, however, is reluctant to cut Ozzy out of conversations and quickly warns him that Mike sees her as the target, which complicates Christian’s scheme. Tension rises as alliances shift and the group prepares to head to tribal council unsure of how the votes will land.
At tribal council, the castaways explain their perspectives on the game. Mike frames the tribal dynamics as a natural ordering of stronger players rising to the top, while others reflect on trust, preexisting relationships, and the emotional weight of past seasons influencing current decisions. Ozzy receives praise for providing fish for camp; Emily notes how meaningful new connections have become. As the voting begins, the atmosphere is tense and uncertain.
The votes are read aloud by Jeff: the first vote goes to Angelina, followed by Emily, then Mike, another vote for Emily, and finally three votes for Mike. With that, Mike is voted out this week — the fifth contestant eliminated this season. He accepts his fate with composure, but Ozzy is visibly upset that he learned details of the vote too late to change the outcome. After Mike’s torch is snuffed and he walks away, Christian tells Ozzy he’ll fill him in, but it’s already too late.
This episode underscored shifting allegiances and the unpredictable nature of vote-counting in Survivor. Immunity and reward wins provided memorable moments, including Zac Brown’s visit, while the tribal politics left the Vatu camp fractured and strategizing for what’s next. Stay tuned for the next episode as the castaways regroup and the game continues to evolve.
