Survivor: David vs. Goliath — Live Recap and Discussion
A new episode of Survivor: David vs. Goliath aired tonight on CBS. Read this live recap for a scene-by-scene breakdown and join the discussion about strategy, idols, and the tribal council fallout.
After tribal council, the Davids celebrate John’s elimination. Alison, Alec, and Kara sit together, uneasy about the Davids’ apparent momentum. In her confessional, Alison admits she played it conservatively by siding with the Goliaths and it backfired. She’s worried the Davids might hold a secret advantage and is uncertain where her loyalties should lie. Alec reveals in his confessional that he and Alison briefly considered flipping on the Goliaths, but were talked out of it by Mike.
Dan feels overlooked after tribal and vents to Kara, who tells him he should have joined the group instead of isolating himself. The conversation turns tense, and Kara later admits through tears in her confessional that she needs some distance from Dan.
Reward Challenge: Burgers on the Line
For reward, the cast is split into two teams of five and must navigate obstacles, retrieve bags of puzzle pieces, and solve a jigsaw-style puzzle to win burgers. Teams are randomly drawn: Purple Team—Angelina, Christian, Alison, Gabby, and Nick; Orange Team—Mike, Davie, Dan, Alec, and Kara. Carl sits out after the draw and cannot compete for reward.
Both teams race through the course and reach the lock combination station. Mike and Christian work furiously; Mike cracks the lock first, but Alison spots the correct code and tells Christian, keeping the competition tight. When both sides begin solving the puzzle, the Orange Team pulls ahead and finishes first. Mike, Davie, Dan, Alec, and Kara win the burger reward.
Back at camp, Gabby tries to convince Alison to vote Dan out, calling it a bold move. Alison remains conflicted. During the reward, Mike emphasizes unity among the Goliaths and presses Dan, Kara, and Alec to stay loyal. Kara, however, views Dan as a liability and later tells Alec and Alison that Dan has another hidden immunity idol—setting up plans for a blindside.
Hidden Immunity Idol Discovery
Early the next morning, most Davids give up an island-wide search for an advantage—everyone except Christian. He keeps searching and discovers a coconut shell with blue yarn tucked up in a tree. Christian has found a hidden immunity idol, a development that shakes up the strategic landscape heading into the next immunity challenge and tribal council.
Immunity Challenge: Balancing Act
The immunity challenge requires players to shuttle three balls across a teeter-totter while balancing them on discs, then maneuver each ball into a snake-shaped track. Alec and Dan take an early lead and are the first to attempt landing balls on the track. Alec stumbles early but rallies, landing his second and third balls before anyone else. Alec secures individual immunity.
Back at camp, Kara says in a confessional she’s ready to make a move on Dan and hopes he won’t take it personally, believing the vote is necessary for her game. Alison wavers, however, and after talking with Alec she starts to reconsider keeping the Goliaths united. The pair suggest maybe voting Christian instead, which unsettles Kara.
The Davids gather and reveal their advantages: Nick can steal a vote, Christian has a hidden immunity idol, and Carl holds an advantage that can nullify an idol. Their excitement is palpable; they believe these tools will give them the upper hand at tribal council.
Tribal Council and the Big Plays
At tribal council, Jeff asks about the aftermath of the previous vote. Alison calls it a wake-up call. The group debates whether the game truly remains David vs. Goliath. Dan prefers working with a known adversary rather than unknowns. Mike urges the Goliaths to stay united, while Alec admits alliances are blurry and complicated. Nick declares he’s ready for the game to blow up.
Before the vote, Nick uses his secret vote-steal advantage and steals Alison’s vote, meaning Nick will cast two votes and Alison will not vote at all.
In a dramatic moment before any ballots are read, Dan plays a hidden immunity idol for himself. But the momentum shifts: Jeff pulls an item from the urn revealing that an advantage to nullify an idol has been played on Dan. His idol is stripped of power; any votes against him will count.
