Season 2 of The Kelly Clarkson Show, hosted by Grammy and Emmy Award-winning personality Kelly Clarkson, will premiere Monday, Sept. 21 and is scheduled to return to its production home at Universal Studios Hollywood. The new season plans to blend in-studio segments with a virtual audience format, giving viewers across the country new ways to participate and engage.

This season marks the program’s first significant expansion into a virtual audience experience. For the first time, fans who cannot travel to Los Angeles will be able to occupy front-row seats digitally, joining the show’s live tapings from the safety and convenience of their own homes. Season 2 will present a combination of live and virtual interviews featuring actors, musicians, public figures and everyday people who are actively making a positive impact in their communities.

The Kelly Clarkson Show will follow all COVID-19 guidelines

Throughout production, The Kelly Clarkson Show will adhere to NBCUniversal’s health and safety protocols, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, and all applicable state and local orders. These measures are intended to protect cast, crew, guests and the virtual audience while allowing the show to continue delivering its mix of music, conversation and human-interest stories.

As part of the lead-up to the season premiere, the program will air five additional original episodes during the week of Sept. 14 as a special countdown to the Sept. 21 launch. The series originally premiered on Sept. 9, 2019 and maintained a steady schedule of original episodes through the summer of its first season.

During the summer months, when traditional studio production faced pandemic-related restrictions, Kelly and the production team adapted by filming segments at Kelly’s ranch in Montana and from her home in Los Angeles. Those episodes offered viewers a behind-the-scenes look at life in quarantine and showed Kelly navigating work and parenting from home during a turbulent personal period, including her separation from her husband of nearly seven years, Brandon Blackstock.

In its inaugural year, The Kelly Clarkson Show earned significant recognition at the Daytime Emmy Awards, taking home three Emmys—more than any other talk show that season. Kelly Clarkson herself was honored as Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host, affirming the program’s strong debut and audience connection.

The Kelly Clarkson Show airs weekdays and is distributed to more than 200 local stations, reaching viewers in 100% of U.S. markets. The show’s national availability ensures that fans across the country can watch live episodes, highlights and special segments via their local stations.

Join Kelly’s Virtual Audience

Fans who want to participate in the season’s virtual audience can sign up through the show’s virtual audience partner. The production begins filming on August 27, and virtual attendees will have opportunities to interact with Kelly, celebrity guests and featured changemakers during episodes. To register for virtual audience access, visit the season sign-up page and follow the instructions to reserve a digital seat. The virtual format allows people who don’t live in Los Angeles—or who prefer to remain at home—to be part of the live taping experience.

The virtual audience experience is designed to be interactive while preserving safety and accessibility: attendees can watch the show in real time, react to moments on air and, when invited, participate in audience activities. This format expands the show’s reach and creates a more inclusive way for viewers to be part of the conversation without needing to travel.

With Season 2, The Kelly Clarkson Show aims to balance the energy of in-studio production with the accessibility of virtual participation. Between honoring public health guidance, bringing inspiring guests to the stage and offering a new digital front row to fans everywhere, the series looks to continue its mix of entertainment, music and heartfelt storytelling into the new season.
