American Idol: Top 24 Solos and Celebrity Duets — Part 2

The next episodes of American Idol will spotlight the remaining Top 24 contestants with a mix of solo performances and celebrity duets. Over the coming Sunday and Monday episodes, twelve more singers will take the stage at Academy LA, delivering solo numbers and pairing with established recording artists for duet performances. These episodes continue the search for America’s next superstar, with the competition intensifying as the field narrows.

On Sunday, April 15, the remaining twelve semifinalists perform solo pieces, each mentored by iHeartRadio personality Bobby Bones. In addition to the contestants’ performances, fans can expect a special appearance by season 10 winner Scotty McCreery.

Monday, April 16 features the celebrity duet round, where the same contestants return to perform alongside well-known recording artists. After Monday’s show concludes, five more contestants will be eliminated, revealing the Top 14. The following week moves into the live performance phase with the Top 14; viewer votes will determine who advances and who joins the Top 10.

Judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie will continue to provide feedback and help shape the competition, while Ryan Seacrest returns as host. These episodes air Sunday and Monday at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.

What to Expect

Expect a mix of carefully chosen song selections and strategic performance choices. Contestants typically work with mentors and producers to select material that showcases their vocal strengths while creating memorable television moments. Judges will provide critiques after each performance, and producers will edit the shows to present a compelling narrative for viewers.

Following the duet performances, the judges’ commentary and the viewers’ reactions help shape the outcome, but it is ultimately public voting that determines who moves forward. The elimination format this week reduces the field by five contestants, setting the stage for the Top 14 live shows.
