Did American Idol Star Ada Vox Audition for AGT?

Ada Vox hints she auditioned for America’s Got Talent

Drag performer Ada Vox recently sparked excitement on social media after posting a short video of herself walking onto a stage with the caption, “I did a thing. Do you know what it is?” The most telling clue was the soundtrack: the unmistakable America’s Got Talent theme. That audio cue, combined with the timing of AGT’s audition filming, led many fans to speculate that Vox may have auditioned for the talent competition.

America’s Got Talent, judged by Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Howie Mandel, recently began filming season 18 auditions at the Pasadena Civic Center in Pasadena, California. With the show actively holding auditions and Ada’s teaser using AGT’s theme music, the suggestion that she tried out for the series fits neatly with current production activity.

Drag artists have appeared on AGT in recent seasons. Notable examples include Ginzilla, who competed on season 14 and also appeared alongside Ada on Queens of the Universe; contortionist Scarlett Business on season 16; and RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Alyssa Edwards, whose troupe of young dancers performed on the show. AGT has become a recognizable platform where drag performers and other variety acts can showcase their talents to a broader television audience.

Ada Vox previously competed on Queens of the Universe and American Idol

Ada Vox’s rise in the entertainment world began well before this recent tease. She earned wide recognition after finishing as the runner-up to Grag Queen on season 1 of Peacock’s singing competition Queens of the Universe in 2021. That series gathered drag vocalists from around the globe to compete for a singing-focused crown, and Ada’s strong vocal performances helped cement her reputation as both a singer and a drag artist.

Ada’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. Before finding success as Ada Vox, performer Adam Sanders auditioned for American Idol season 12 and reached Hollywood Week, ultimately being cut at the Top 50. Following that experience, he faced online backlash, including harsh comments about his appearance and voice. Those attacks took a toll, but Sanders later re-emerged, reinventing himself creatively and adopting the Ada Vox persona, which allowed him to embrace his artistry and resilience.

American Idol provided an early national platform, but Ada’s subsequent exposure on Queens of the Universe and connections within the drag performance world—most notably through the RuPaul franchise community—has helped expand her career. Her vocal talent, theatrical presentation and determination continue to attract attention across reality TV and live performance circuits.

Whether or not America’s Got Talent includes Ada’s audition on air, the possibility highlights how mainstream talent competitions are evolving to showcase a wider array of performers. Fans are hopeful that AGT will feature her if she did audition, and many are already sharing support and excitement on social platforms.

Good luck to Ada Vox—her journey from American Idol hopeful to Queens of the Universe finalist and drag star has been inspiring, and viewers will be eager to see what she does next on the talent-show stage.
