The Amazing Race 35 Recap Week 9 Live Blog and Results

Tonight’s episode of The Amazing Race (season 35) delivered another intense mix of navigation errors, tricky tasks, and emotional moments. This live recap covers the key events from Leg 9 — from the Roadblock at Congress Square through the Detour at Fonda Fish Farm and the Pit Stop at Grad Socerb — and summarizes the final placements and elimination.

The leg opens with frontrunners Greg & John and challengers Todd & Ashlie pushing out first. Teams are instructed to travel to Congress Square, where a Roadblock awaits: one member must deliver a dozen wooden items to complete the task. John and Todd each elect to take on the Roadblock for their teams.

Rob & Corey leave soon after, hoping to save the Express Pass they won previously. At Congress Square, Corey decides to do the Roadblock for his team. Meanwhile Greg & John, confident after three consecutive leg victories, acknowledge the pressure to maintain their streak. Steve & Anna Leigh and the remaining teams start later, with Steve reflecting on how valuable the shared time with his newlywed sister Anna Leigh has become.

Todd misses the exit

John completes the Roadblock first, and Greg & John move on to drive to Pivka Jama, a system of subterranean caves where the next clue awaits. Joel & Garrett and Robbin & Chelsea begin to make their way as well. Anna Leigh takes on the Roadblock when she and Steve arrive, and Chelsea also starts the task, only to be passed by Steve & Anna Leigh. Several teams complete the delivery, but Chelsea realizes she’s missing one of her twelve items — a rolling pin — forcing her and Robbin to backtrack and costing them valuable time.

On the drive to Pivka Jama, Todd misses an exit and must navigate back, further delaying his team. Teams converge on the caves: Greg & John reach the clue box first, followed by Rob & Corey. At Pivka Jama the challenge shifts from speed to assembly — teams must construct a dragon made of multiple pieces. Construction requires focus and patience, and teams spread out as some assemble quickly while others struggle.

Building dragons

Greg & John complete their dragon first and receive the next clue sending them to Fonda Fish Farm for a Detour: Scrape Off or Swap Out. Scrape Off tasks teams with cleaning two rings used for fish farming; Swap Out requires paddling a kayak to locate two marked buoys and replace them with new buoys to collect mussels. Rob & Corey follow into second at the cave, while Steve & Anna Leigh and Joel & Garrett complete their builds and head to the fish farm. Robbin & Chelsea, after missing a turn earlier and landing in the wrong lot, finally arrive at the dragon task but remain behind the other teams.

At Fonda Fish Farm, Greg & John opt for Swap Out and begin kayaking through the buoy field. Teams split across the two Detour options: Rob & Corey and Joel & Garrett choose Swap Out, while Steve & Anna Leigh take on Scrape Off. Todd & Ashlie arrive later and decide which Detour to attempt after some initial confusion locating the necessary equipment for Scrape Off.

Scrape off or Swap out

Greg & John locate both buoys and complete Swap Out, but they realize a mistake: they forgot to collect the mussels and have no replacement buoy with them, prompting a quick return to correct the error. Rob & Corey find a buoy early in their Swap Out attempt but leave the mussels behind, ultimately deciding to switch Detours. With Steve & Anna Leigh finishing Scrape Off, they offer Rob & Corey helpful tips before heading to the Pit Stop.

Joel & Garrett complete Swap Out and race toward Grad Socerb, the Pit Stop located at a castle on the Slovenia–Italy border. Rob & Corey pivot to Scrape Off and manage to finish without using their Express Pass. Todd & Ashlie face delays locating chains for Scrape Off but eventually complete the task. Robbin & Chelsea, despite earlier setbacks and navigation errors, finish their Detour but arrive at the Pit Stop last.

Team #1 greet Phil at the pit stop

Greg & John cross the mat first at Grad Socerb and are declared Team #1 for the leg, each winning $5,000. Joel & Garrett follow to take second place, with Steve & Anna Leigh securing third. Rob & Corey arrive as Team #4. Todd & Ashlie overcome their obstacles to claim fifth place, while Robbin & Chelsea, who struggled with missing equipment and several navigation mistakes, are eliminated at the end of Leg 9. They leave the race gracefully, reflecting on the experience and the strengthened friendship they’ll take home.

Leg Summary
