The Amazing Race Week 10 Live Blog
Week 10 of The Amazing Race takes teams to Stockholm, Sweden, where everyone boards the same flight and lands on an even playing field. From the airport they split into taxis and head toward a skydiving challenge that several teams had already guessed from an online search at the terminal. Joel & Garrett and Steve & Anna Leigh arrive first but forget to claim their order numbers; Joel & Garrett and Steve & Anna Leigh ultimately take numbers 1 and 2 after correcting their mistakes. Greg & John recover number 3, Todd & Ashlie take number 4, and Rob & Corey take number 5. Rob & Corey still hold an Express Pass but decline to use it at this point.
Teams complete tandem skydiving one at a time with professional instructors. Ashlie struggles with fear but pushes through and ends up enjoying the jump. Joel & Garrett finish the skydiving task first and receive their next clue directing them to the island of Tynningö.
Once on Tynningö, teams board boats to the next location and learn about a Roadblock: one team member must construct and secure a flower wreath to a maypole. Garrett, Anna Leigh, and Greg start the Roadblock early. Todd & Ashlie and Rob & Corey arrive soon after. Ashlie opts to do the Roadblock, while Rob & Corey decide to play their Express Pass, bypassing the Roadblock and receiving a clue that sends them to the Royal Dramatic Theatre.
The first roadblock completed
Anna Leigh completes her wreath first, allowing her and Steve to proceed to the Royal Dramatic Theatre. Watching her quick work prompts Greg to realize he’s been too fussy and to speed up his own efforts. Rob & Corey struggle briefly to find the theatre’s main entrance, which lets Steve & Anna Leigh pass them. Inside the theatre, Steve & Anna Leigh locate a violinist and earn a clue sending them to Solna Centrum Station.
Back at the Roadblock, Greg initially fails an inspection for having the wrong number of flowers but quickly corrects the wreath and finishes ahead of Garrett and Ashlie. Garrett passes his second inspection shortly afterward, leaving Ashlie as the last competitor still finishing her wreath. Ashlie eventually passes inspection, putting her and Todd slightly behind Joel & Garrett as both teams head toward the theatre clue box.
Recycling trash
Greg & John and Joel & Garrett successfully find the violinist without incident. Greg & John catch an earlier subway, giving them a roughly seven-minute advantage over Joel & Garrett. At Solna Centrum Station, Rob & Corey and Steve & Anna Leigh learn their Detour options: Sort or Serve. Sort requires sifting through a family’s trash and sorting items into the correct recycling streams. Serve requires one teammate to act as a server and the other as a runner, delivering three courses modeled on past Nobel Prize Award banquets. Rob & Corey and Steve & Anna Leigh choose Sort. Later, Greg & John select Serve, and Joel & Garrett choose Sort. Todd & Ashlie obtain their clue from the violinist and join the race toward the Detour.
At the recycling center, Rob & Corey and Steve & Anna Leigh cooperate to speed through the Sort task. At the restaurant, Greg’s French gives him confidence as the runner while John serves; they successfully complete all three courses for the Serve Detour. Todd & Ashlie are still on the subway, with Todd trying to keep Ashlie motivated despite her frustration. When they reach the Detour clue, they choose Sort as well.
Jogging to the subway
Rob & Corey and Steve & Anna Leigh finish Sort and receive a clue to proceed to Pampas Marina. Greg & John complete Serve, and Joel & Garrett wrap up Sort as well, leaving Todd & Ashlie trailing behind. At Pampas Marina the next clue directs teams to take the subway to the Pit Stop at Strömparterren. Rob & Corey, Steve & Anna Leigh, and Greg & John ask a local for directions to the subway and are told it is a ten-minute walk. The teams jog off, only to reach a closed building and realize they are disoriented. Another local redirects them back toward the marina, costing time and allowing Joel & Garrett to reach the subway ahead of them.
As Joel & Garrett ride toward the Pit Stop, Todd & Ashlie finally arrive at Pampas Marina and begin sprinting to catch up. The other teams navigate the confusing streets, racing for the subway after the earlier misdirection.
Team No 1 Arrives
Joel & Garrett arrive at the Pit Stop first, and host Phil Keoghan announces them as Team #1. Their first-place finish also earns them a prize trip to the Galápagos Islands. Greg & John follow as Team #2, with Rob & Corey arriving next as Team #3. Steve & Anna Leigh push through for Team #4 in a close finish, and Phil praises the tight competition while noting that one of these four teams will ultimately win the race.
After the mat clears, Todd & Ashlie reach the Pit Stop and receive the devastating news: they have been eliminated from The Amazing Race. The pair express disappointment but gratitude for the experience and for each other, saying they would do it again if given the chance.
