Survivor Season 45 Week 12 Recap: Final Five Revealed

Tonight’s episode of Survivor Season 45 delivers a tense Final Five episode as alliances shift, idols surface, and a surprising blindside reshapes the jury. Below is a full recap of the key moments from tribal life, two challenges, and the dramatic Tribal Council.

After the previous Tribal Council, the remaining castaways return to camp in an awkward silence. Everyone had targeted Julie, but she played a hidden immunity idol and saved herself, creating immediate fallout. Julie and Dee stage a public rift to cover the truth—Dee had actually warned Julie she was the target before Tribal Council. Austin calls the last Tribal Council a disaster but notes he still holds his own hidden immunity idol. In small-group conversations, Austin voices his Final 3 hopes: himself, Dee, and Drew. Drew eventually joins and the trio agrees Julie should be next. Julie plays along at camp, pretending everything is fine, but in confessional admits she no longer trusts the Reba Four alliance.

Reward challenge

The reward challenge sends players into the water to race ashore, then onto barrels where they must use ropes to navigate a course and collect keys. The keys unlock pieces to a slide puzzle; the first castaway to solve it wins a picnic reward on a sandspit. The contest remains tight throughout, with Austin and Drew moving fastest to the puzzle, closely followed by Jake and Julie. Dee and Katurah fall slightly behind. In the end, Austin completes his puzzle first—Austin wins reward—and selects two companions: Dee and Katurah. Drew is left disappointed and points out his frequent exclusion from reward trips, while Julie worries she will be monitored back at camp after the recent vote.

Looking for a hidden immunity idol

With Austin, Dee, and Katurah away on reward, Drew, Jake, and Julie remain at camp. Julie and Jake step away together to look for a hidden immunity idol, leaving Drew to suspect Austin wants him to keep tabs on Julie. While on reward, Austin and Dee appear affectionate—Katurah notices them holding hands and feels like a third wheel—leading to confessionals in which Austin and Dee both admit growing feelings. Back at camp, Jake finds a clue and ultimately retrieves a hidden immunity idol hidden inside bamboo on a raft, adding another key piece to the evolving endgame.

Who wins immunity?

The immunity challenge is an endurance balance test: contestants must steady a ball on the end of a beam using their foot. Less than two minutes in, Julie and Jake are eliminated when their balls drop, followed soon after by Katurah and then Drew after several tense close calls. The final showdown comes down to Austin and Dee; when Austin finally loses his balance, Dee wins immunity and secures safety at Tribal Council.

Back at camp, the prevailing plan is still to target Julie, but Jake resists being a pawn and suggests a different approach: blindside Drew instead. He pitches a plan to Julie and Katurah to vote Drew out, believing a blindside would better his own game résumé. Julie privately signals she’s on board, and Katurah thinks she can bring Dee into the vote—though Jake worries that Dee might warn Drew if she learns of the plot.

A blindside

Dee and Katurah, meanwhile, are excited about blindsiding Drew. Dee wrestles with lying to Austin, especially since she has developed feelings for him and has pledged to keep emotions from dictating her moves. Dee comforts Drew earlier by affirming the plan to vote Julie out, reinforcing his belief that he’s safe—especially given Austin’s idol. But Dee ultimately faces the moral tightrope of keeping both trust and strategy in balance as the Final Five narrows.

Tribal Council

At Tribal Council, Jeff Probst probes relationship dynamics after Austin’s reward picks. Austin defends his choices, while Julie admits she felt like a pawn. Discussion shifts to whether alliances are locked in at this late stage—Dee insists nothing is set, while Drew claims certain bonds feel solid and sees a path to the end if he survives. The castaways debate how much personal ties should influence game decisions as they all consider their ideal Final 3.

Before the votes are read, Austin stands and plays his amulet idol for himself—an attempt to secure safety and control the outcome.

The final five are revealed

When Jeff reads the votes, the results land as follows:

Julie

Julie

Drew

Drew

Drew

Drew

Drew is the thirteenth person voted out and the sixth member of the jury. The vote marks a dramatic blindside: both Drew and Austin are stunned, with Drew visibly furious and Austin clearly disappointed. Dee avoids Austin’s gaze as the fallout washes over camp.

This episode sharpens the strategic edges of Survivor Season 45: idols are in play, loyalties shift, and emotional ties complicate what remains a cutthroat endgame. The Final Five is now set, and the dynamics among Austin, Dee, Julie, Katurah, and Jake will determine who makes the next move toward the Final Tribal Council.
