The Amazing Race 36 Week 6 Recap and Live Blog – Teams embark on mega leg in Argentina

A new episode of The Amazing Race Season 36 aired tonight on CBS, sending the teams into a Mega Leg across Córdoba, Argentina. Mega Legs feature two Detours and two Roadblocks, stretching both endurance and strategy. The episode began at Plaza del Bicentenario, where the first clue directed teams to choose between the Detours “Bicicleta” or “Boleadora.”

Ricky & Cesar and Juan & Shane arrived first and learned the Detour options. Bicicleta required teams to use a stationary bicycle to crush and recycle plastic bottles, while Boleadora challenged them to throw a bola and wrap it around a moving target with only ten attempts before restarting. Ricky & Cesar and Juan & Shane opted for Boleadora. Angie & Danny, Amber & Vinny, and Rod & Leticia followed and chose the same option.

The next wave of teams departed, but Derek & Shelisa and Sunny & Bizzy got lost en route to Plaza del Bicentenario. Yvonne & Melissa located the plaza without trouble and also picked Boleadora. After observing the physical nature of the task, Danny urged Angie to switch Detours; Rod & Leticia and Amber & Vinny followed their lead and moved to Bicicleta.

Teams form an alliance

Juan & Shane were the first to complete the Detour and headed to Circuito Lobo Race. At the Boleadora station Cesar hit a target quickly while Ricky struggled. Derek & Shelisa chose Boleadora and Sunny & Bizzy started Bicicleta. Rod & Leticia finished the bicycle task first, followed by Angie & Danny and Amber & Vinny. The three physically aligned teams agreed to stick together for the Mega Leg.

Yvonne & Melissa eventually finished Boleadora, while Derek and Shelisa found the challenge tougher and decided to switch to Bicicleta after taking time to regroup. When Ricky and Cesar left the detour area, Yvonne & Melissa arrived and began their attempt. The shifting choices highlighted how route strategy and on-the-fly decisions affected positioning early in the leg.

Detours and roadblocks

At Circuito Lobo Race, the next clue revealed a Roadblock: one teammate must ride alongside a professional racecar driver, memorize the course, and then assemble a puzzle replicating the track layout. Ricky volunteered first but failed his initial attempts. Juan later took on the Roadblock and, drawing on his piloting background, completed the task on his first try, sending him and Shane to Estadio Francisco Cabasés.

Ricky eventually finished the Roadblock after multiple tries. Meanwhile, several teams converged on the stadium where a second Roadblock awaited: players had to join a Bubble Soccer match and score a goal. Teams split responsibilities—Sunny chose the racecar Roadblock, while Shane had already completed the bubble soccer task quickly, allowing Juan & Shane to advance.

Poor navigation cost Yvonne & Melissa time, but they persisted. Angie, Amber, and Leticia all struggled during one Roadblock attempt; Angie considered accepting a four-hour penalty after repeated failures, but Danny encouraged her to continue. Amber ultimately completed the challenge and insisted on waiting for Angie & Danny and Rod & Leticia so they could proceed together, reinforcing their temporary alliance.

First team arrives at the Pit Stop

After the second Roadblock, Juan & Shane reached another Detour: “Who Did It” required identifying a fingerprint match using tools, while “What’s Your Beef” tested teams on identifying fourteen different cuts of beef. Juan & Shane chose What’s Your Beef and, working efficiently, completed the task first. They proceeded to the Pit Stop at Plaza de San Martín and were declared Team #1, each winning $5,000.

Ricky & Cesar finished the Detour shortly after and arrived as Team #2. Rod & Leticia, Amber & Vinny, and Angie & Danny followed in succession, executing a mix of cooperation and competition that defined much of the episode’s dynamic.

Teams work together

A notable storyline tonight was teamwork—both cooperative and obstructive. Sunny & Bizzy and Yvonne & Melissa teamed up at the butcher shop for What’s Your Beef, while the alliance of Angie & Danny, Amber & Vinny, and Rod & Leticia coordinated to dominate the stations. Because only three teams could work on the task simultaneously, the alliance used their presence to block others temporarily, staying inside the room to prevent re-entry until they finished.

Rod & Leticia completed the task and shared answers with Amber & Vinny and Angie & Danny before leaving. Despite being initially shut out and ignored when they asked for help, Yvonne & Melissa supported each other and successfully completed the Detour. This mix of collaboration, gamesmanship, and perseverance shaped the final placements at the mat.
