America’s Got Talent alum Drake Milligan to resume tour after van crash

Drake Milligan and several members of his touring band were hurt when their van struck a concrete median while traveling in Texas, forcing the cancellation of a scheduled performance. The incident caused concern among fans and prompted public updates from Milligan and his team.

Milligan, who earned nationwide recognition as a finalist on America’s Got Talent, reassured followers on social media that the group was on the way to recovery. In a post he shared publicly, he wrote that they “got in quite the fender bender on the way to @twostepinn, but we’re all on the mend. We really appreciate all the love and well wishes.” The message emphasized gratitude and calm as he and his band began to recover from the crash.

On Monday, April 17, Milligan’s manager and record label issued an official statement confirming the facts surrounding the collision. According to the statement, the crash occurred while the team was traveling between Fort Worth and Georgetown, Texas, during the morning hours. A tire reportedly flew into their van, which led to the vehicle colliding with a concrete median. The team’s account made clear that the accident was sudden and unexpected.

Injuries warranted a hospital trip

As a result of the crash, Drake and several band members sustained injuries that required medical attention and transport to a hospital. The statement and subsequent updates confirmed that everyone who was treated has since been released from medical care. While any crash of this nature is alarming, the public confirmation that the group was released from the hospital offered relief to fans and colleagues.

Milligan’s team also clarified that, despite the setback, he intends to resume his tour schedule. Milligan plans to return to the stage on April 28, performing on the main stage at the Stagecoach Music Festival. That scheduled return marks an important step in getting back to his ongoing run of live shows and reconnecting with festival audiences.

In his follow-up messages, Milligan took time to thank the individuals and organizations who assisted the band after the crash. He gave a special shout-out to Mark Bogart with @mbranchkingblinds for helping get “the boys back to Nashville safely,” and he expressed appreciation for the staff at the Two Step Inn festival who quickly sent a truck to load and secure their equipment. Milligan noted that there was “lots to be grateful for” amid the disruption, and said the band planned to rest and then head to Stagecoach.

Milligan rose to national prominence last summer when he finished third on America’s Got Talent, largely on the strength of performing his own original songs. Around the time of the September finale, he released his latest album, Dallas/Fort Worth, and has been actively touring in support of his new music since then. The schedule of live dates and festival appearances has been a major part of his post‑show momentum.

While the van crash was an unexpected interruption, the combination of medical releases, logistical support from colleagues, and Milligan’s public updates helped calm immediate concerns. Fans and industry peers reacted with well wishes and messages of support online, and the confirmation that Milligan plans to be back on stage on April 28 gives his touring calendar an important note of continuity. As he and his band continue to recover, the focus remains on rest, recovery, and returning to perform for audiences as planned.
