Dancing with the Stars Season 32: Premiere Dances, Music Selections, and Key Details
After uncertainty caused by the writers’ strike, the tentative agreement reached between the involved parties means Dancing with the Stars returns as scheduled for its expanded Season 32. The hit ABC series will bring all 14 celebrity contestants to the ballroom for the season premiere, offering viewers a full evening of choreography, music and competition. Below is a clear overview of what to expect during the premiere night, including opening numbers, first-round dance styles, song choices and how live voting will factor into eliminations.
Co-hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough will lead the show when Season 32 premieres on TUESDAY, SEPT. 26 from 8:00–10:31 p.m. EDT/PDT (7:00–9:31 p.m. CDT). Subsequent episodes will continue to air on Tuesdays during the regular time slot, with episodes listed as 8:00–10:01 p.m. EDT/PDT (7:00–9:01 p.m. CDT). This season makes broadcast history as the first to simulcast live across both ABC and Disney+ in local time zones, with episodes becoming available the next day on Hulu.
The premiere will open with a large-scale production number set to “Levitating” by Dua Lipa, choreographed by Luam, and will showcase a variety of dance styles for the first competitive performances. For their debut routines, celebrity-produo pairs will perform one of the following styles: cha cha, foxtrot, jive, salsa or tango. At the conclusion of the premiere, one couple will be eliminated live based on a combination of judges’ scores and viewer votes.
Live voting will be available during the simulcast in the EDT and CDT time zones. Viewers in the United States, its territories and Canada can submit votes through the show’s official voting site during the specified live voting window. In addition, fans who have a participating U.S. wireless carrier may be able to vote via SMS/text; viewers in Canada will not be able to vote by SMS. Judges’ scores will be combined with live viewer votes each episode to determine which couples are at risk of elimination.
