2024 Daytime Emmy Awards includes nods to Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson talk shows
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has revealed the nominees for the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, and once again daytime television favorites are well represented. Among the nominees are programs and hosts linked to American Idol alumni, notably Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson. These nominations highlight continued industry recognition for high-profile daytime productions and the teams behind them.
The Kelly Clarkson Show earned a substantial presence in this year’s slate, receiving eight nominations across categories that recognize on‑air talent and behind‑the‑scenes excellence. Clarkson herself is nominated in the Daytime Talk Series Host category, a nod to her continued appeal and impact in the daytime arena. The Kelly Clarkson Show was also a major winner at last year’s ceremony, taking home six awards in 2023, including Daytime Talk Series and Daytime Talk Series Host.
The Jennifer Hudson Show, fronted by EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson, also secured multiple nominations, with four total nods across creative and technical categories. While Hudson’s program received recognition for its production elements and technical achievement, the host did not appear in the Daytime Host category this year. Both shows appear repeatedly across categories that honor everything from lighting and sound to directing and set design.
The Daytime Emmy Awards telecast will air live on Friday, June 7, at 8 PM EDT (delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. The Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards ceremony will take place the following day, Saturday, June 8, and will be streamed on The Emmys apps and on watch.TheEmmys.tv. Both ceremonies are scheduled to be held at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles.
These nominations come at a time when the daytime landscape continues to evolve, blending traditional syndicated formats with streaming and network presentations. Recognition from NATAS spotlights the diversity of production models represented — from long‑running network programs to newer syndicated and streaming talk series — and underscores the collaborative effort required to produce compelling daytime television.
