A new episode of Survivor 44 airs tonight on CBS. Read the live recap below for a full breakdown of camp life, the immunity challenge, and the tribal council that followed.
After tribal council, the returning tribe heads back to camp. Danny says the vote unfolded exactly as he planned, revealing that he used a hidden immunity idol on Frannie to blindside Brandon. Lauren expresses regret for not splitting votes earlier. Yam Yam admits he understood the plan but cast his ballot for Frannie to appear to be playing both sides. He also points out the irony that the last three players eliminated had all voted against him.
The following morning brings renewed focus. Kane acknowledges he’s finally shaken off complacency and is refocused on the game; his sights are set on targeting Danny. Meanwhile, word spreads that Danny is searching for a hidden immunity idol. The whole camp joins the hunt and, in the end, Heidi uncovers the idol. She decides to keep the discovery to herself for now.
Later, the castaways share a relaxed moment where they deliberately put strategy aside and connect on a personal level. Carolyn says these quiet interactions are her favorite part of the experience — getting to know the people around her without constantly scheming. She opens up about her past struggles with addiction, revealing she is thirteen years sober and grateful for the family she has at home. Although she prefers to appear underestimated, in her confessional Carolyn insists she is still playing aggressively behind the scenes.
A Tree Mail message changes the day: the group can negotiate for extra rice if enough players agree to sit out of the upcoming immunity challenge. At first, only Carson volunteers to sit out, hoping others will change their minds. On their way to the challenge, the sky opens up and it begins to rain. Jeff Probst introduces an endurance test that requires contestants to balance on a small block while holding a ball on an overhanging plank; dropping the ball or stepping off the block means elimination. Jeff asks for volunteers to sit out — he needs four. Lauren and Carson step forward, but the others hesitate until Danny says he won’t vote for anyone who sat out. Carolyn echoes that sentiment, then Kane reluctantly agrees to be one of the sit-outs. Jaime almost joins them but changes her mind at the last second, and Heidi opts to sit out in her place. Lauren, Carson, Kane, and Heidi therefore miss the challenge.
When the competition begins, eliminations come quickly. Carolyn is the first to fall, followed by Jaime, and then Yam Yam after he drops his ball. That leaves Frannie and Danny battling it out to see who can outlast the other. Danny eventually drops his ball, and Frannie emerges victorious — she claims individual immunity.
Back at camp, Kane says he doesn’t regret sitting out; he didn’t expect to win the endurance test and felt better preserving himself and the rice. Still, he doubts Danny’s promise not to target any of the sit-outs. As the group enjoys the rice they earned, alliances begin to shift. Former Soka members set their sights on Kane and hope to pull in former Tika members to form a majority. Meanwhile, former Ratu members are plotting to target Danny and aim to split votes between him and Heidi. Lauren gives Jaime her extra vote advantage as insurance in case the Knowledge Is Power twist comes into play. Jaime then passes what she believes is an idol along to Kane, not realizing the idol she handed over is fake.
Carolyn, Carson, and Yam Yam find themselves in the swing position, aware they hold the votes that could decide the next boot. Sensing the importance of their role, Frannie floats the idea of voting out Yam Yam to Danny and Heidi, but Danny rejects that plan. He warns about Lauren’s unused extra vote and Jaime’s possible idol — the latter of which is actually a decoy. As tribal council approaches, Carolyn and Yam Yam privately debate their options: Yam Yam sees Kane as the greater threat, while Carolyn would rather see Danny go. Carson emphasizes that the three of them need to align because their votes will determine the outcome.
At tribal council, Jeff opens by asking about the negotiation and the endurance challenge. Heidi says she doesn’t regret sitting out but confesses worry about her safety in the vote. Kane maintains his skepticism, asserting that promises made at challenges have been broken in the past. Jeff references Danny’s “Scout’s honor” assurance from earlier, and Danny admits to Jeff that he isn’t actually a Scout. Jaime defends her choice to sit out as part of her gameplay, a move Danny disputes. Carolyn describes how the rice lifted camp morale. When Jeff asks about the overall atmosphere, Yam Yam admits to feeling paranoid, and Lauren explains she’s thinking about her individual game and who has lied to her. Frannie mentions how everyone questions the plans that have been discussed, while Heidi warns that hidden advantages can dramatically shift the vote. Jeff presses whether they enjoy a chaotic season or prefer calmer play; Kane embraces the chaos, and Danny describes tribal council as always being unpredictable. The final moments before voting are filled with whispered conversations as players try to confirm loyalties and reassure one another of the plan.
Jaime plays the extra vote advantage Lauren gave her earlier, but no one opts to play a hidden immunity idol. The votes are read aloud one by one.
The votes come in as follows:
Kane
Heidi
Jaime
Kane
Heidi
Danny
Kane
Heidi
Kane
Kane
Kane is voted out and becomes the third member of the jury.
