The Voice alum Alisan Porter marries long-time love Justin de Vera in intimate Las Vegas ceremony
Alisan Porter and her longtime partner Justin de Vera were married in an intimate ceremony on Sunday at the Venus Garden Chapel inside Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. After six years together as a couple and a connection that stretches back to their childhood, the pair made their relationship official in front of a close circle of family and friends.
The couple exchanged handwritten vows in a heartfelt ceremony that reflected their history and deep friendship. Porter, who rose to national attention as the winner of season 10 of The Voice, told attendees that she and Justin have known one another for more than two decades and that their bond evolved naturally over many years of friendship before becoming romantic.
“For both Justin and me, we have been best friends for so long that this just feels like the next step,” Porter said after the ceremony. “We’ve known each other for over 20 years. We’ve had an amazing six years together, raised incredible kids and had our own baby. So this is what we’ve been waiting for.”
The couple involved their children in the ceremony. Porter is the mother of Mason, 10, and Aria, 8, from a previous relationship, and she and Justin welcomed daughter Shilo, now 17 months, in October 2021. The children played a meaningful role at the wedding, entrusted with holding the rings as their parents exchanged vows.
Alisan wore shoes given to her by friend Adam Lambert
For her wedding look, Porter chose a Sau Lee gown described as classic and understated with a modern edge—an aesthetic she said suited the couple’s personal approach to the day. She completed the outfit with Versace shoes, a gift from her close friend Adam Lambert, who was among the roughly 75 guests in attendance. Porter emphasized that the ceremony was focused on authenticity rather than tradition: “Our wedding is very personal and very us,” she said. “We didn’t go for any kind of traditional anything—just what felt right to us.”
Porter walked down the aisle to the song “Warm Under the Light” by Justin Nozuka. She was met at the front by Justin and by their officiant, Guy, a longtime friend who also serves as Shilo’s godfather. Porter explained that Guy’s connection to the family runs deep: he was her grandmother’s godson and grew up at the same dance studio where she trained. Porter introduced Justin to Guy at a dance competition when they were young teens, and the two men have remained close friends ever since.
The couple’s engagement took place last July at a David Gray concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Reflecting on their relationship, Porter said they had always cared for one another and had lived full lives before reuniting as adults: “We have been best friends since and always loved each other. I’m a bit older than J, but we both went and lived amazing lives until the universe brought us back together.” Porter is 41 and Justin is 33. Justin’s background as a professional dancer includes touring with major artists, an experience that has been part of his career prior to their marriage.
Guests described the ceremony as warm and low-key, a celebration tailored to the couple’s long friendship and new family life together. Rather than a large, traditional wedding, Porter and Justin opted for a meaningful afternoon surrounded by the people closest to them—children included—so that the day reflected their priorities and the family they’ve built.
Photos taken at the venue captured several intimate moments: handwritten vows exchanged at the altar, the children holding the rings, and tender embraces shared among friends. The choice of the Venus Garden Chapel offered an elegant Las Vegas backdrop while keeping the guest list small and focused on loved ones. In interviews and comments after the ceremony, both Porter and Justin highlighted the importance of friendship, family, and the long history that brought them to this point.
As the newlyweds begin this next chapter together, their wedding stands out for its emphasis on personal meaning over formality, with a ceremony led by a close friend, vows written by hand, and family fully involved in the celebration. For fans of Porter’s music and followers of her journey since The Voice, the wedding marked a joyful milestone in a relationship rooted in shared history and genuine devotion.
