Survivor: Ghost Island — Merge Episode Recap

A new episode of Survivor: Ghost Island aired tonight on CBS. Below is a detailed recap of the merge episode, including a risky trip to Ghost Island, a twist on a hidden immunity idol, an endurance challenge, and the vote that sent the first player to the jury.

Day 20 begins with the tribes merging on Naviti beach. Castaways reunite and share a celebratory feast. In confessionals, Domenick says he’s happy to be with his ally Wendell again but uneasy about facing his long-time rival, Chris. Michael compares the moment to Christmas morning and admits he hopes to win. Kellyn jokes that they’ll share a feast now, then resume playing the game against one another.

After the meal, Chris discovers a secret note hidden in his new buff directing him to a hidden immunity idol. The instructions require him to sneak onto a boat at night and travel to Ghost Island to retrieve it — a risky move that could get him caught by others. Chris accepts the danger and later slips away under cover of darkness.

At Ghost Island, Chris finds the hidden immunity idol that previously belonged to J.T. on Survivor: Game Changers, but the idol carries a unique twist: it is only guaranteed to work for the upcoming tribal council unless the finder is willing to risk their vote to try to extend its power. Chris opts to gamble, chooses correctly on the first try and secures the idol. He risks his vote a second time and draws a “no vote” parchment, which means he will be unable to cast a vote at the next tribal council. The idol itself can still be played either at the imminent tribal council or at the following one.

Back at camp, tensions remain high. Wendell hopes Domenick and Chris will set aside their feud to keep Naviti strong, but he knows that’s unlikely. A conversation between Domenick and Chris, with Wendell nearby, reveals uncertainty: Domenick wants to postpone their conflict, Chris declines to promise loyalty, and ultimately Domenick and Wendell decide they cannot trust Chris and plan to target him if possible.

Endurance Immunity Challenge

The immunity challenge is a classic endurance test. Each castaway must balance on a narrow beam while holding a pole horizontally above their head, with a statue perched on top of each pole. The last person standing wins individual immunity.

Eliminations come steadily: Jenna steps off first, followed by Donathan, Desiree, and Angela. The field thins as the challenge requires competitors to move to progressively narrower sections of the beam. Sebastian is next to fall, then Domenick, Michael, Chris, Laurel, and Wendell. The final three are Libby, Chelsea, and Kellyn. A gust of wind causes Chelsea’s statue to drop; shortly after, Libby’s statue falls. Kellyn wins immunity, securing safety for the first merge council.

Camp Conversations and Vote Plans

After the challenge, strategy conversations intensify. Chris tries to rally support and proposes splitting votes between Domenick and Wendell to protect himself. Michael says Chris’s plan makes tactical sense but isn’t sure how things will play out and will use his own idol if necessary. Wendell and Domenick agree they’re aiming to remove Chris, and Domenick reveals in a confessional that he and Wendell are prepared to play hidden advantages if they need to.

Meanwhile, Libby believes she’s in a safe position because Kellyn won immunity, but Desiree privately admits she’d prefer to target Libby. Donathan informs Domenick that votes may be split, and the alliances continue to shuffle as everyone weighs trust and loyalty at the merge.

First Merge Tribal Council

At tribal council, the tension is palpable — this is Chris’s first time attending a Tribal, and he says the game feels more intense in this setting. Jeff Probst probes the group about adaptability and leadership. Domenick frames the vote as a showdown with Chris, citing past clashes that began after a public disagreement. Chris defends himself and references previous votes and alliances, while Wendell interrupts to accuse Chris of aligning with former opponents.

Libby stresses that no one can be fully trusted, Kellyn reiterates how unpredictable a merge vote can be, and Michael notes that he will protect himself if necessary. With emotions high and alliances strained, the castaways prepare to cast ballots.

Before the votes are read, Jeff invites anyone with an advantage or idol to play it. Domenick stands and plays the Legacy Advantage. Chris, who had drawn the “no vote” parchment at Ghost Island, does not play his idol and is unable to cast a vote at this council.

Vote Reveal and Outcome

The votes are read aloud: the first several are revealed as votes for Chris, with two votes for Libby interspersed. Ultimately, a majority of the votes lands on Chris. Chris is voted out and becomes the first member of the jury.

The episode closes with the aftermath of the first merge vote and the castaways left to reassess alliances heading into the next phase of the game.
