The Voice 26 Semi-Final Top 8 ranked: How would you rate them?

Good news: The Voice season 26 is finally in its live-show phase. The tough part: this season’s live shows are compressed into just two weeks, a far cry from the longer playoff-to-final runs fans once saw. Still, the competition is heating up quickly.

During the three-part Playoffs, coaches Gwen Stefani, Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg and Reba McEntire each advanced two singers to this week’s live semi-final. The Top 8 will perform live on Monday, December 2. After that episode, viewers will have a window to vote for their favorites. On Tuesday, December 3, the four contestants who receive the public vote will be announced, while the remaining four will battle for an Instant Save to claim the fifth spot in next week’s finale. From there, the Top 5 will perform for the chance to win The Voice season 26.

With live performances starting, it’s a good time to rank the semi-finalists and consider who has the edge at this stage. Below is a contestant-by-contestant breakdown and my Top 8 ranking heading into the semi-final.

The Voice 26 Top 8 Ranking

8 Sydney Sterlace – Team Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani tends to favor young, impressionable singers, and that likely influenced her decision to advance Sydney Sterlace in the Playoffs. Compared with teammates who offer more immediate polish or distinctiveness, Sydney still has room to grow. Her strengths include enthusiasm and raw potential, but she needs more work on phrasing and breath control. With time and focused coaching she could develop into a strong performer, though that evolution may not be visible in only one or two rehearsals.

7. Adam Bohanan – Team Reba McEntire

Reba’s selections from the Playoffs showed consistency, and Adam is one of her stronger choices. He brings a laid-back, bluesy, soulful approach that can quietly win over viewers. Adam sings with confidence and uses inventive phrasing, which makes him interesting to listen to. His style is subtle rather than flashy, so he risks being overshadowed by bigger personalities unless he finds a song and staging that highlight his strengths.

6. Christina Eagle – Team Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg’s team choices have shown his willingness to work across genres. Christina brings energy and a solid country presence, with good stage confidence and relatable charisma. She was a one-chair turn in auditions, and while she’s competent within country music, vocally she sits around the middle of the pack for this show. Her live-show success will depend on whether she can turn energy into distinct moments that stick with voters.

5. Jeremy Beloate – Team Snoop Dogg

Jeremy has theatrical flair and the capability to deliver powerful show-stopping moments. His future in the competition will hinge heavily on song selection: he needs material that showcases his range and dramatic instincts without forcing him into styles that don’t fit. A smart coach will choose material that highlights his strengths while avoiding comparisons to divas that don’t suit his voice.

4. Jan Dan – Team Gwen Stefani

Jan is the lone pure R&B interpreter among the semi-finalists, yet he often surprises by selecting songs from different genres, such as Kansas’s “Dust in the Wind.” His interpretive skills make him compelling; he can reframe a familiar tune and lend it emotional depth. If Jan picks another unconventional but fitting song, he could secure a spot in next week’s finale by standing out artistically.

3. Shye – Team Michael Bublé

Shye may be young, but she sings with a maturity that belies her age. Her unique contralto delivers warmth and emotional clarity across a variety of repertoire, from contemporary pop to heartfelt ballads. She has a strong sense of storytelling in her performances, which makes her one of the more reliable bets to advance to the finals.

2. Danny Joseph – Team Reba McEntire

Danny brings gritty, blues-infused vocals and strong guitar work that make him an unforgettable stage presence. His rasp and soulful delivery aren’t about technical polish so much as authenticity and intensity. That combination of voice and musicianship gives him a compelling musical identity and makes a persuasive case for a place in the finale.

1. Sofronio Vasquez – Team Michael Bublé

Sofronio has emerged as the frontrunner. His performance of Roy Orbison’s “Crying” has surpassed one million views on YouTube, and his four-chair-turn Blind Audition has drawn over 2.5 million views, numbers that outpace many of his peers. While a significant portion of his online support comes from international fans who may not be able to vote, the vocal skill is undeniable: powerful belting tempered with phrasing, polish and tasteful control. He showed immediate adaptability when handed “Crying” and delivered a near-flawless interpretation. If I had to pick a likely winner today, Sofronio would be the choice. Team Michael Bublé appears to have the strongest overall lineup heading into the live shows.

As the live semi-final approaches, song choices, staging and fan voting will determine which contestants move forward. Expect surprises and standout moments — and be ready to vote for your favorites when the live broadcasts and Instant Save window open.
